Personally I just play games for fun, I kinda dislike really competitive games. Comp TF2, no. Fighting game competitions, no. Pub TF2 or fighting games with friends? Sure!
I play games for the fun of the match, I don't just see the match as a mean to victory.
Such a thing would probably just indicate some things about one's personality. Hint: they're all negative.
You don't necessarily have to be that way to play anything competitively, of course, but lots of people there sure are going to take everything too seriously, making the enviroment unpleasant to say the least (fighting game arcades, anyone?). Heck, you can't even play chess or sports for fun besides with certain close friends, anyone else will take it seriously.
And no, I'm not talking about playing melee only hoovy 24/7 or stuff like that.
So I just look for people that don't ever trash talk or rage, in both multiplayer and singleplayer, as that's probably a good sign for a more respectable and concious person, while I myself try to be as nice and respectful of a player as possible. Except everyone I personally meet is either too egocentric (just like a stereotypical "pro" guy) or too ignorant (just like a stereotypical newbie scrub) so I'm just sad.
CaioNV posted...I don't play competitive TF2, likely never will. But I like to watch 9v9s, fun to see an organized version of a chaotic pub. I kinda of think that 6v6s are meh, really. Kind of always the same thing happening.
What I truly dislike about competitive is how the Kritzkrieg is rarely viable. In pubs, the Kritzkrieg is incredible effective. IT IS THE BEST THING VALVE EVER DID TO THE GAME!

There are three types of people in the world: people that can count, and people that can't.
