This has been going on for several days. Try as I might, I simply cannot get the damn game to just let me play. I tried reinstalling the game at least four times to no avail (it did let me play once, but it had horrendous stuttering issues), and I even tried reinstalling all of Steam twice. No progress. The game refuses to do anything past validating files that have already been validated, and getting an update that I already have (which I know from the brief stint mentioned above). So screw it, I'm out of ideas. What the hell do I do? Adobe must now shut down due to an unexpected error. As opposed to that error we were expecting. |
try verifying game cache. right click tf2 in steam, properties, and it should be under one of the tabs. can't remember which one. |
That's exactly the problem; Steam won't stop verifying the cache. I did decide to do it manually like you said, but that didn't do crap. So **** it, I'm just going to reinstall the entire game for the FIFTH TIME to see if that changes anything. I don't have access to any TF2 maps in Gmod, so my guess is that something messed up when installing (I did get a random blue screen right the **** out of nowhere today when it was at 100% (with 100% apparently not meaning it's done) so that could be it). I had this problem before. What I did: -Backup Local Files to an external memory drive -Delete all local content -Restore the back up -Play TF2 Considering you reinstalled a bunch of times, not sure it'll work. EVERYTHING IS BRIGHT |
I had this problem for two weeks. Turns out my hard drive was 50% fragmented. I had no idea how it happened. Anyways, after defragging, it worked perfectly. I recommend O&O Defrag if you have the money. Otherwise, use the built in Windows Defragmenter. From: zer0din | #009 It was most likely due to me downloading several games off steam at once. It was only my Steam Partition, and not my main one.
