I've made a little progress in the demo, and I'm enjoying it so far. Was there something that happens that makes people dislike it later?

I think people are comparing it to Harvest Moon, Stardew, Rune Factory, etc. and being annoyed it doesn't have this or that feature that they like.

If you enjoy the demo, you will enjoy the full game. I've been playing it a ton and it plays just like the demo but with more stuff like sidequests, skill trees, animals, request board, friendship system, etc. (I know some of that you can see in the demo but only barely, it fleshes out more in the main game)

My only complaints from the demo were how FAST time moved on the over world but I hear that has been changed in the final release (haven't verified that personally yet). Oh and it was mildly irksome that crops basically sold for only a few gold more than the seeds. That wasn't amazing.

I can verify that they fixed time on the over world map. You can also walk straight through a dungeon you have completed on the over world map to save more time. And you can also get a pet to ride on the over world map that saves even more time.

Crops definitely don’t sell for a lot at first, but that changes pretty quick; and I was making good money pretty easily pretty quick. You can unlock a lot of space, and a lot of crops don’t have to be replanted. Meaning you don’t have to buy seeds and can just make pure crop profit. Cucumbles sell for 200 apiece and don’t need to be replanted.

Not to mention that the dungeons and quests throw a ton of seeds at you. You could probably do a minimalist speed run through and never buy a single crop while still keeping the farm full. I’ve been taking my time sweet though so idk.

It's changed quite a bit. In the demo it felt like just traveling to the canyon consumed half the day. I think they reduced travel on world map in half but don't quote me on that.

I could wear they increased food prices as well but again I could be wrong (and I do wish crops were worth far more money than they are).

For TC if you liked the demo you'll like the game. The game opens up in chapter 3 which isnt accessible in the demo.

I enjoyed the demo, myself, and I bought the game and played it quite a bit this weekend. I can understand why some people are dissatisfied, but I honestly feel like people have been much too harsh on the game. I feel like the people that are really dumping on it were expecting a really fleshed out farming sim, life sim (with lots of named NPCs and romance options), and dungeon crawler, to rival the best RF/ HM/ SoS games. And that's understandable, but it's a bit unrealistic to expect the first attempt at a game like this to rival the best games in the genre by other devs.

For what it is, I think it's a very charming and fun game, myself. Granted, I'm a bit more on the casual side for games like this, and I have trouble wrapping my head around the complex farming/ automation mechanics of other games, so this game feels a bit closer to the simplified experience that I'd prefer.

Which isn't to say I don't have my own little "complaints". Combat does feel a bit lackluster, and farming feels relatively unimportant. However, I think it has a solid base, and I find the core gameplay to be solid enough. In a way, it almost reminds me of the Phantasy Star Portable games, which I only ever briefly played. But it sort of reminds me of that, with a little touch of "life sim" aspects.

I'd love to see a future game that improves and reiterates on this one, although given how things are currently going as far as interest and reception, I'm guessing that's probably not going to happen, which is kind of a shame. But who knows.

How is the story? It seemed interesting, just want to make sure it does not become a secondary thing to the farming and such. So it stays interesting.

I would say there's greater focus on the story, but there's a good balance of both farm and story.

If you focus only on the story and side quests, you can coast by well enough, but most of your money is for the farm upgrades anyway.

But you want some farm upgrades to be able to get food and meals that act as healing items, since there's no other way of recovery and you can't buy the food on stores either.

But to do cooking you want ingredients and crops that come from farming since you can't buy crops straight either.

If you focus on the farming only, you'll not be able to maximize your efforts since the skills and upgrades are tied to progressing far enough in the story.

So this game is an interesting balance of story and farming, they work into each other well enough to make it interesting. At least for the main story, obviously enough, there is a point that it stops and then it will be mostly farming to complete what you're missing. But there's also extra things in the post story to keep you occupied a bit longer.

Characters are just cardboard stereotypes but the setting itself is interesting. Wanting to know more about the world is what drove me into continuing the story rather than whatever motivations the characters have.

Besides, farming progression is locked behind the story. You'll naturally veer towards advancing the story once you realize there's nothing left to do besides fish for pennies.
Perfection is an illusion; Aberrations are discoveries.

Sweet, appreciate the info guys, the story sounded interesting, so I'm leaning more with that than focusing on farming.
