I think I like that english version better as well. In some ways it's annoying that anime has gotten a lot more popular but there certainly are upsides.

Funimation in particular has been known to dub a lot of songs over the years, the quality of which varies. Yu Yu Hakusho songs were top tier; they stay in my music folder on my phone.

I think we discussed this a while ago, but trying to do a half decent song dub is no easy task. Going for a near-direct translation, which I've seen several of my favorite artists do, rarely works. You've got to make sure it sounds natural in English, while also staying true to the spirit of the original lyrics.

This is one of my favorite songs in either English or Japanese; they're basically apples and oranges to me.

Also, there's a digital manga bundle from Humble Bundle:

I'm in for Domestic Girlfriend, and oddly enough I was just looking at Fire Force earlier today and thought it seemed like fun. Double topical: Cells at Work volumes 1-5 for just $1. I'm indifferent to Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga.

Man, playing FFXV made me kinda nostalgic for the original Final Fantasy that started it all.

I only remember playing the GBA version of it a loooong time ago. But now that I can, I kinda want to play the, supposedly, definitive PSP version of it.

So I'll do it! I'll play the original (well, not really original since it's a remake) Final Fantasy, alongside the newest Final Fantasy.

Now, I'll obviously stick to the base three classes of Fighter/WMage/BMage, but who should my fourth be?

Not enough hard drive for another manga bundle, I think. I still don't have enough for all of that Fairy Tail bundle from a while back.

Except for the visuals and a particularly obnoxious optional dungeon, the PSP version of FF1 is the same as the GBA. Still highly recommended. ... For that fourth slot, I say Red Mage.

Agreed. She's absolutely adorable. And she's what convinced my wife that Fire Emblem might be a fun series to play. ... Well, her and Niles.

English dubs I prefer: It's a growing list, but I've gotten pretty attached to the English casts for the Fire Emblem and Persona games. Atlus games in general, really, going as far back as Digital Devil Saga. And I've actually really come to like the English casts of the various Fate anime, though I still tend to watch that subbed (because that's the only way I can get the Heaven's Feel Blu-Rays).

Most salient example for me is still Dragon Ball Z, though. Goku shouldn't sound like somebody's (admittedly badass) Japanese grandma, IMO.

You know, it really is incredible just how much Japan LOVES Dragon Quest.

I found a video showing off the Japanese reactions to the new DQ Hero reveal in smash.

I don't think any other character reveal has garnered this much of a reaction.

It's so heartwarming and wholesome.

At 4:41 especially you can FEEL the love when he keeps saying "arigatou Sakurai-san!" and when he starts crying afterwards.

The Code Geass collab in Granblue started, so I've been playing a bit more. Haven't done much more than a token effort in the game for over a month. Gotta wait until part 2 of the event to get Lelouch, but I already got Kallen from the first part, so that's cool.
