  3. 100% the game. I gotta be honest, it was just alright...

And this is from someone who isn't rating it negatively because it's a 1 for 1 remake (That's what a remake is, right? Why would you rate it lower because it actually achieves what it is set out to do?). Though I will say the fact the Robo-Squidward fight not existing in the game is quite bad since it was their main marketing tool to add deleted content (I mean, did they...?).

The game was alright, not anything amazing, not anything terrible. But I gotta ask, was it really because of the speedrun community that considered this a great licensed game? Because I'm sorry to say, it's really not. Is it among the good ones? Yes but that's because there's not many good licensed games. I have played far better licensed games, even on previous gen consoles... Heck, this isn't even the best Spongebob game in my opinion. I actually enjoyed the movie game and the Nickelodeon team-up crossover games more than this game. Toy Story 2, Bugs Bunny Lost in Time and Hercules on the PS1 were also much better than this game. Even the same gen licensed games were better like Simpsons Hit & Run, Star Wars Battlefront and Spiderman 2.

So I gotta be honest here, I don't see what the fuss was about in terms of them making 'one of the best licensed video games ever.' I can see the appeal, but we had far better licensed games.

I never played the original. I didn't expect much but what ruined it for me almost is that they botched the remaster and it took 2 patches to somewhat fix it. Also they didn't add anything new. It was obviously rushed.

The game itself is OK. Most missions are boring but whatever. Still fun.
I can still unlock characters in Tekken 3 without being online or needing patches or buying DLC.

It mostly got praise because it's one of the best licensed games out there, in the days before we got the Batman Arkham games and Spider-Man 2. I consider it legitimately a good game, but it's not amazing.

PS1 Licensed titles were far better.

I remember the original PS1 Spider-Man, but what were the other ones that come to mind?

Right! That was another good one.
