So nobody feels like they need to earn their spot? Wow
Earn their spot? So it's not enough that they got great grades since they were 14, not enough that they passed one of the most difficult standardized tests out there, AND not enough that they put in the time and hours writing admissions essays, etc...

No, to 'earn their spot' and be worthy of saving lives... they need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Please don't be creepy...

Medical school is not the bottleneck in the profession.
Medical school admissions were the original artificial bottleneck and other bottlenecks were built on top of that as time progressed. We need to fix them all.

I can see free school up to graduate but medical degrees are pretty lengthy aren't they?

For any kind of doctorate degree other than medicine and law, the school pays you.

Given the amount of doctors and nurses needed in America, wouldn't it make more sense to make medical school free so we can get more trained professionals in the health industry? What is keeping the government from subsidizing medical universities to support students who want to take care of others?
The issue isn't lack of money to train, it's a lack of resources all around.

If there were more schools, more teachers, and more qualified students, the price of education would go down and more doctors would be made. It'd still be expensive, but it wouldn't be what it is today.

We're then getting into why there are a lack of qualified educators and students. Many smart people are choosing careers like compsci that's insanely profitable after just 4 years of school. On top of not enough smart people coming out of high school as well.

Why go to school for 10 years to become a doctor, when you can become a software engineer and have a million net worth in that time?
