Some people would rather see the country burn than to admit Liberals were right about Donald.

One of my co workers is full Trump. Has the 2020 sticker on her car as well as “Love it or leave it”. The television was on and tuned to coverage of the impeachment hearings. She was gasping and muttering to the TV under her breath.

Its definitely a cult. The thing is...these people didn’t become the way they are simply because Trump got elected. Their culthood was always there. Just needed the right dumbass figurehead to embolden their prejudices.

I think his people fall into two camps. You have the people that just don't get very much news, or if they do, they're getting it from Fox...meaning they just don't know what's going on. Then you have the single issue voters. An honest to god anti-abortion person is never going to support a democrat...ever.
You have ZERO plausible deniability. -wordsmith on GFAQs

Some people are simply partisan hacks. "I'd rather be Russian than a democrat" wasn't a joke. "If we have a king, I'd want it to be Trump" wasn't a joke. These people were serious. There's a sect of people out there that drank the kool aid and because of Fox News Propaganda, feel that being lorded over is better than having a Democrat in office.

You were just saying in another topic that it would be nice for Russia to interfere with our election to help elect Bernie Sanders... Speaking of hacks...
I'm not biased. I hate everything equally.

Seems impossible to support the guy nowadays. He's clearly in at least the early stages of dementia, this impeachment inquiry has him shook as all hell, and all his policy decisions have fallen flat.
- The guys in Congress dont, and never did. They are just party over country which extends to a small portion of the voters as well. They support trumps (R) next to his name and nothing more.
- The troll faction of Cult 45 only supports him because, well, trolling.
- the common folk of cult 45 are just dumb. This faction makes up the greatest percentage of Cult 45 and exactly why the first 2 factions are so powerful.

All 3 make up Cult 45.

Trumpism is a cult that is powered by spite, racism and pseudo-conservatism.

I agree with the sunken cost analogy. They can't deny Drumpf support now because admitting that he is wrong is an admission that they were wrong. That's hard for some people to do.

Some of them are even double and tripling down now.

Some of them claim that it's just an act to lower the guard of his enemies.
Seriously.
These tend to be the "4D chess!" chuds, though.

A lot of Trump voters (and liberal voters, too) are low-info and don't pay any attention to politics (not even the local news) outside of what they've heard on TV or from friends.

I agree with the sunken cost analogy. They can't deny Drumpf support now because admitting the he is wrong is an admission that they were wrong. That's hard for some people to do.

In some cases, yes. Some of the family farmers have openly admitted this.

And yes, an awful lot of it is just "I'll vote for the guy with the R beside his name"

On top of that, you have a lot of people who will vote for the incumbent based on whether or not the economy is doing well. Since it's doing good under Trump, they'll vote for him in 2020.

Finally, you have the chuds who believe that Trump is the only thing holding back the torrent of socialism. This is a major reason why he has such high approval among evangelicals. After attempts to make the GOP socially moderate and the 2015 gay marriage ruling, these people feel betrayed by just about everybody else. That is why Michael Huckabee, Michelle Bachmann, and Ted Cruz were overwhelmingly the most popular primary candidates earlier on.
