Something to note, Bernie Sanders gave a speech at George Washington University in an attempt to define Democratic Socialism, something I've seen requested by critic in the past.

Some footnotes:

-He really took it to Trump, blaming him for the state the United States today, and how the 1% take advantage of everyone else.

-Introduced a 21st century economic Bill of Rights, which was the continuation of FDR's Second Bill of Rights.

-Attempted to distinguish his brand of socialism from negative examples.

All in all, this seems like a good effort. Hopefully more people notice it.

The state of the US is hardly due to Trump, and I think Sanders should stick to his message rather attempting to lay blame anywhere. This is especially true considering how long he's been a politician.

the democratic socialists of Europe have been in and out of power for more than a century now and have never opposed democracy

Western Germany, especially West Berlin, has been heavily dominated by the democratic socialists known as the SPD for decades. Tony Blair, George Bush's #1 ally in the invasion of Iraq, was a democratic socialist. I believe Germany has had 3 or 4 democratic socialist Prime Ministers by now too. Israel has had at least five Prime Ministers who were also socialists.

I kind of understand what's going on with him.
Sanders currently is duking it out with Biden for highest unfavorables, a large part of this is due to his tenancy to lash out at both parties. While the truth of the matter is the current state of political affairs is largely due to the usage of pet issues by both parties to distract from their lackluster fiscal policies, saying as much doesnt do Sanders any favors, at least it hasn't been lately. His numbers have seen steady improvement as Biden drops, but he knows he needs to beat out Warren early to have a shot at beating Biden as it stands now.

Hes probably trying to mold himself as more of a party guy by withholding attacks on Democrats.

Something to keep in mind.

Not all people retweeting things are American.
Not everyone who posts on Gfaqs is American.

If they were against Democrats we would hear non stop about foreign influence in our media.
We are the observer, the judge and the jury; thus we are our own biggest obstacle to truth.
