He has already made more then token attempts to shut out any news organization that doesn't tongue his prostate 24/7 like Faux News does. Can you imagine what sort of heavy handed retribution he would dish out against the media if they took the kid gloves off and walloped him upside the head like he actually deserves? They would go bankrupt from having to repeatedly sue his ass over 1st amendment violations.

Daily reminder that media loves Trump (although they will never say it). Trump is the best thing to happen to them in the short term because of all the money they make off the constant coverage of him.
We all live in a Yellow SUV! a Yellow SUV!

If they call him a liar to his face, he will call them fake news, start shouting over them and then pout, and if he really doesn't like it he'll walk away.

But he'll call them fake news regardless. Might as well develop some journalistic integrity.

What gets me is when he doubles down on the false statement when called out on it, or keeps repeating it over and over. If there's been time for his advisors to correct him or for him to have researched it himself (lol), and there's been time for him to correct the record but he keeps repeating the false statement, you don't have to be careful about intent anymore. At that point he's definitely lying and should be called a liar.

You could even just point out how he constantly insists certain companies or people within those companies are "fake news" simply for posting negative things about him. Or like how he kept calling it the "Failing New York Times" because he loves his childish nicknames even though they were growing during that time.

You don't even need any presidential stuff to call him a liar to his face, just call him out on his fake news bulls***.

It's hard to say for sure since I'm not the media, but I wonder how much of it is simply the fact that it's a business, and everyone has competitors.

If network/publication X starts real-time fact-checking Trump, oops, suddenly they don't have a press pass anymore, while those who just report whatever he says with only a single-sentence mention of the fact that it's untrue or without evidence (if even that) get to keep access and make money. It's happened already that credentials were revoked for no legitimate reason, so it's possible that it's just an element of fear that if they actually do their job, they'll lose access.

It's easy to say "if I had Trump in front of me I'd ask him this!", and I mean, I wish it would happen. I wish someone interviewing him would play him a clip of his own words promising to release his taxes, or tell him that the IRS has stated on several occasions that being under audit in no way whatsoever presents an obstacle to releasing his taxes. There's probably hundreds of similar scenarios that deserve to play out. But it's also a fact that that organization would only get one chance, and then they would NEVER get an interview ever again, and it's highly likely it wouldn't prove to be worth it. They could repeat his own words to him and he'd say "I never said that", they could play a clip of him saying it, and he would interrupt and say "we're not gonna talk about this" and just get up and leave. There's nothing they could do to stop him, and then they'd never get to interview him again.

So I get it from their perspective, but at the same time, it's not like interviews with him are all that meaningful anyway. It's not like hearing Sarah Sanders say something really lends it an air of credibility. It's not like anything coming out of the administration is worth taking at face value, so while I understand the media's fears, I think they're off-base and that a more united front would be hugely beneficial to society.

I don't know what the answer is though. Even if all the legitimate publications start doing their job and stick to their guns, that just leaves s*** like Fox News or even Breitbart or I don't f***ing know, WND or something, a monopoly on access and a much bigger presence.
