honestly i remember early late 90s early 2000 i thought they were for small government less taxes and the republicans were for bigger government spending and control and more taxes.
but it seems to be different now maybe it was always different and as a young kid i didnt know any better. i mean to this point i'm starting to think the left and democrats actually want to destroy Constitution of United States of America. with people like bernie sanders and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez being so pro socialist. and them having a following. who knows.

They were for lower taxes on corporations and the rich. It was called Trickledown economics. Reagan propped it up. His primary opponent in 1980, H. W. Bush called it "Voodoo Economics"

The "small government" was their claim, but they never really lived up to it except to remove the social safety net while increasing funsing related to military, police, prisons, the Drug War, etc while butting in social areas like gay marriage, drug use, abortion, etc

This is pretty basic US politics

James Baker was in exactly the same kind of meeting arising from complaints that Reagan was not “aware”.

Baker even went a step further and observed Reagan for a day without letting him know.
