  3. Why was "Pokemon Go To The Polls" so widely mocked?

Pokemon Go was really popular at the time, and it was a stupid joke that Clinton likely made up on the fly. Of course Pokemon is outside of Clinton's age demographic, but the line wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Why are people still quoting it?

It reminded us of a more innocent time when political gaffes were dumb, as opposed to horribly offensive and traitorous.

I remember when Go first came out, a lot of conservative friends I have on Facebook were sharing memes about having to hand in your "man card" if you were a guy and played it. Or ones that said they had better things to do (most of them post racist memes all day) and even some about how, "You catch Pokemon? That's cute" with a picture of a dead deer or something.

It was really stupid.

Because it was really lame. An example of an old, out of touch person trying to use something popular to seem "cool" and failing miserably.

This is one of the sad ironies of the 2016 election. Hillary was viewed as trying so hard to be hip and relying on focus groups, but we found out later it was really Trump's slogans that came from testing by Cambridge Analytica.

"Pokemon Go to the Polls" is really such a grandma line, I can actually kinda believe she came up with it on her own.

It actually made perfect sense, seeing as polling places are the kinds of places where pokestops/gyms are located. I mean, she surely didn't know that or anything about how the game works, but still, there was a logic to it.

It was so corny, but you're right, very much a grandma joke.

Innocent times indeed.

Hillary's campaign manager should've been 1992 Hillary Clinton, the woman who saved Bill Clinton's campaign by coming up with the 60 Minutes interview and the shades and saxophone intro on Arsenio Hall.
