From what I've seen from his subreddit and some of his more well known supporters like Jimmy Dore and Jill Stein, the strongest Bernie supporters don't have nearly the level of hatred for Trump as most Clinton supporters.

My impression during the campaign was he was still seen as an "outsider".

Bernie himself I think hated him more than the other Republicans, though.

Because they're not so much Bernie supporters as they are haters of the establishment, just from the other side of spectrum as the right.

I'm a strong Bernie supporter and I firmly believe that Trump is both one of the dumbest and (potentially) most dangerous presidents we've ever elected.

Jimmy Dore

He most definitely hates Trump, he however thinks that Trump is useful for motivating progressives in a way Clinton never would have been.

This. Jimmy's harder on the neoliberals like Clinton and Obama because liberal voters forgive their indiscretions, which stands in the way of the Democratic Party moving forward and being truly progressive.

You also have a lot of people (mostly in the south and the rust belt) who like both Sanders and Trump because they both had populist economic messages. Of course, one was transparently lying.

Here in Bernie country (Vermont), I'd say we probably hate Trump more than any other state.....or at least as much.

Both politicians voiced similar concerns:

- The political establishment doesn't represent the interests of the common people.

- Politicians who don't accept funding from wealthy donors are more trustworthy for the common people. Trump promoted the idea that candidates should fund their own campaigns, while Bernie promoted the idea that candidates should only be funded in small amounts by each of their voters.

- American corporations should hire Americans over people in foreign countries who can accept lower wages.

- America is losing out to other countries in various regards. Trump claimed we were being beaten in trade and taken advantage of financially, while Bernie claimed we had fallen behind other first-world nations in terms of standards of living,

- America's finances should not be managed by a private bank.

- The Overton window of American political discussion is too small; Trump tried to normalize alt-right xenophobia and conspiracy theories, while Bernie tried to normalize the label of socialism and the progressive concept of raising taxes to provide valuable services.

This manifested in shared opposition of the national party committees, policies like the TPP, etc. The two are extremely different in agenda but hit many of the same rhetorical notes, ones that weren't commonly touched by other politicians at the time.
