battourye posted...Eh, we just had to hurry. If the drug expires soon, and the state already had to lie to get the drugs from anyone, then this is the last chance for a while we'll have to move ahead. Think about it this way, if we consider that people might be innocent, and really think about it, then our society has caused the deaths of thousands due to the actions we as a collective democracy decided on, in particular assuming a 1% wrongful incarceration rate then at any time we're imprisoning 22,000 completely innocent people, and that's just convicted prisoners, not anyone held in a jail for years awaiting trial, et cetera. When you consider all the controversies, overturned sentences, and the fact that the death penalty is wielded at times in a way that can be considered as part of a reelection campaign for attorneys and judges, it becomes clear that the justice system in America is horrifyingly broken down to a systematic level when it comes to fairness. With that in mind, I choose not to dwell on those facts because I would be morally and, perhaps due to me supporting the judge who sentenced the West Memphis 3, materially complicit in what could be dozens of innocent deaths and certainly hundreds or thousands of stolen lives. Ooh, you know when I think about that it kinda makes my brain hurt a little bit so let's just all put this from our minds and forget the whole thing even happened. ... There, I feel a lot better now. You're only looking at one side of the issue. There are plenty of cases of convicted murderers / killers who go on to commit these same horrible crimes again once released. http://www.monstersandcritics.com/lists/living/10-twisted-murderers-who-were-freed-then-killed-again/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2421724/Revealed-The-murderers-given-life-jail-freed-kill-again.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3614946/Freed-kill-Nearly-100-killers-rapists-paedophiles-life-sentences-released-jailed-life-AGAIN.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/04/25/he-was-released-early-for-good-behavior-it-took-him-less-than-a-year-to-kill-again/ http://www.aim.org/media-monitor/killers-who-kill-again/ http://www.lifedeathprizes.com/real-life-crime/murderers-who-were-freed-to-kill-again-40709 http://www.wesleylowe.com/repoff.html This is not counting people who work as correction officers / prison guards who die while having to guard these criminals for life. You can choose to extinguish a convicted life, prevent death & suffering of further lives. Choose to let them potentially live for a while, eventually some liberal will try to release them; then they might go on to commit another horrible crime again and you have to start the process all over again of locking them up. Then more lives / families are ruined because you couldn't make the tough decision to end a murderers / killers life. It's up to you; should you be wrong & the criminal goes free. Then goes on to commit the same crime again, how do you look that family in the eye and tell them you could've prevented their families loss by executing them earlier for a previous crime? There's no perfect solution, each decision has it's cost. Are you a MexiCAN or a MexiCAN'T - Johnny Depp 'Once Upon A Time in Mexico' |
I disagree with the death penalty overall, but this is even more f***ed up since they didn't do a DNA test http://i.imgur.com/ZWNgMXL.jpg Formally known as Will VIIII Game Discounts + Deals: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/1205-discounts-and-deals |

It really does help. I feel like its the sign of a scholar and a gentleman that he can not only entertain any thought, but any two thoughts at once. Even if they contradict each other, letting go of objectivity puts your ideology in a better light than moral realism. The important thing is that I believe fully in everything I say, even if they don't follow, and that makes me not only a happier person, but one with more surety in my political beliefs. Dude. Nobody is saying "opent he doors, let them loose." Saying "Let's test relevant DNA evidence, have a competent defense and make sure the judge and the prosecutor aren't having an affair" is a bit different. Over the mountain. |
Damned liberal activist judges! Rage is a hell of an anesthetic. |
AceRabbit posted... Dude. Nobody is saying "opent he doors, let them loose." The fact is, what if we release someone following your guidelines and they kill someone afterwards? Even if they shouldn't have been convicted these lifers are dangerous people due to the hardening effects of prison life. The fact is we just can't risk one single innocent being killed thanks to a mistake by the justice system, which means that executions are a sad but necessary part of our justice system. In his descent, Justice Breyer decried the rush to execute Mr Lee and his fellow death row inmates. Geez, that's some professional and ethical behavior there from the majority ruling. I have no clue how you manage to let this sort of s*** fly in THE MOST SUPREME court of your country.
