But it's also very similar to Sun and comes at a full game's price.

If no one buys Ultra Moon, how are you supposed to get Stakataka? In fact, in Sun, it doesn't matter if anyone buys it or not; you're not getting it!
No it's a separate game, doesn't matter how similar, it offers awhole 40+ hour story. So ergo you paying for a full game.
And you are comparing sister games to dlc expansion. You either but the game or not, compared to the dlc where it's all or nothing. No internet no Pokemons for onw

if anyone wants the dlc mons you have to buy the dlc or you can't trade them.
No, you can trade them just fine whether you have the DLC or not.

Ultra sun and moon were full games that had base Pokemon plus the new ones.
But were mostly identical to Sun and Moon, and cost more than the DLC does. And without them, you cannot get the new Pokémon at all.

If you wanted them you bought the game or traded, by the nature of being dlc if no one buys no one gets it
That's the nature of all products at all, not just DLC.

I feel like paying $30 for a new game is better than paying $60 for a ”new” game. That’s just me tho

And if nobody buys Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, nobody gets any of those new Pokemon.
But either way it's a moot point because either situation will sell millions.
A "third game" is better for people who didn't buy in initially, DLC is better for people who did. There are trade-offs to both.

Ah, kids these days. They don't know the horrors EA unleashed, so they compare whatever company they don't like to it.

Man, I miss the days of Console Wars, when it was playful to joust about companies, instead of being entitled and whiney.

Look, the point I'm making is that the DLC and patches are actually more generous than Pokémon has been in the past. You're trying to frame it as though it isn't, but the comparison rings hollow if you actually look at the facts.

Say the DLC is overpriced for what it is (even though you don't yet know everything that's in it) and that's your opinion, but the arguments presented here just don't hold up compared to what GameFreak itself has done in the past (and I can't fault past-GameFreak for that one, as 3DS had only limited DLC options and older handhelds none at all.)

Again you can't trade them if no one owns them
These wore "new" stories ergo brand new games, doesn't matter how similar its a new game, think persona and it's remake more specifically royal.
And not really, the topic was they were locked behind a paywall, you pay $60 for the game and the extra $30 for the new Pokemon (post game) vs buying the remade game which is a full game where you don't need the orginal

You really don't get that this is optional, right? That you can get the new Pokémon without the DLC?

And you're talking like the DLC isn't new content. We don't know exactly how extensive it is, but it does have new areas to explore and its own storyline.

It's not optional of you want the new Pokemon, and they have said in the trailer these were post game areas not a "whole" game like remakes

Turning into? Fifa 19-20 is the equivalent of Ruby/Sapphire to Emerald. They were always EA. Hell they're worse, instead of releasing 1 game a year they release 2.
