That wasn't the context.

They said it wasn't the time or place to bring up the controversy regarding the dex cuts/the negativity surrounding that, since they were reviewing the game as it stands.

Which was a s*** take in itself, and blew up on them when they had that roundtable podcast video where one of the women said "you shouldn't believe everyone who's s***ting on this game" or something completely nonsensical.

Honestly I wish the only problem this game had were the Dex cuts.

The writer specifically stated that the review wasn't the time and place for negative feedback.

Not even lying, she actually said that.

brain dead decision. that’s like if they reviewed a madden game with only half of the NFL teams available and then said ‘we’re not gonna talk about the cut teams, just discuss the game as is.’ And then give it a 9.3/10

That's not really a fair analogy since you can't cleanly cut half the NFL teams without changing things at a fundamental level.

There's nothing saying a Pokemon game has to have every single character, so how much missing any of them is going to impact people is going to differ, potentially greatly, from person to person, so it's not really something that can fairly impact a review score.

um what? you could cut the nfl teams to 16 total and it would be the exact same as cutting half of the Pokémon

I'd argue it is. Regardless how many feel, Pokemon is still content, and cutting content is almost always going to be bad. (with rare exceptions such as content heavily tied to microtransactions)

And even then cutting half the Dex wasn't all they did. I fail to understand how these reviewers fail to acknowledge how many features from SM to SS were cut.

It's a good game.
But I agree when you purely look at the bad story it's like a 3. 0 on the pokemon scale. The other content is what makes up for it

Also remember to compare to other monster hunting/capturing RPGs. Don't compare it to Chrono trigger.

Because every first party Switch game has so much "wow factor" and they're so "gorgeous"!

Read: I played the game in handheld mode only. Also I've never even seen a 3DS and IGN god me the WiiU was bad so why would I bother? It's not like it has any good games. It doesn't even have Breath of the Wild.

You'd be changing the division structure, the playoff structure, things like tiebreak considerations, etc. It fundamentally changes the game, something cutting Pokemon doesn't do.

I never trusted them again after their Sonic Unleashed review. They scored it lower than Sonic 2006, which was just unreasonable.

Unleashed is top tier - Sw/Sh isn't.

Seeing as review scores are subjective, whats it to you what arbitrary number someone else assigns to a game? You're never going to agree with everyone.
