I went back and forth with this game.

Sometimes the gameplay even the story grabbed me and then other times I just felt "meh" about it.

I absolutely loved the first 5-6 files. Files 7 and 8 seemed to drag for me before picking back up the anime goodness for 9, 10 and 11.

It just seemed very "cookie cutter" to me the routine of game play.

Start a file
1. Go to an area, do sidequests, investigations etc
2. Progress to fight a couple of chimera's in the regular world
3. Fight Chimera'sin the astral plane.

A couple of the earlier files did a good job of integrating the fighting while in the real world(clearing out the train station) but beyond those few sections, it just seemed to follow a pattern which got stale after the 15th hour.

I still think it's a very solid game and would recommend it to a certain few people that i know are into these types of games but it just lacked a little(and i mean just a little) of that Platinum vibe for me.

I dunno I really liked it. It’s not Bayonetta or Nier but it’s still another great outing from a great studio.

Linear games are still needed.

I agree with file 7 and 8 and needed some oomph. Hopefully a sequel with 3-4 years worth of development comes out.

Replay it, that's the best I can say. Once you beat the game every chapter basically loses all its investigations and sidequests, and becomes a pure Platinum brawler, especially in its post-game content. Especially since you're getting all your tools around that point.

I've been pretty conflicted on the whole game. Probably the hardest time I've had deciding if I like the game or not.

Going back and getting S+ ranks and the post game stuff has been quite enjoyable though. Which makes me think pacing is the games biggest issue.

The game throws way too many non-combat scenarios your way while hiding the good stuff behind the end-game. I think it would've been smarter to hide more of its investigations and blue-quests behind the Axe Legion or something similar, cull it a bit. Right now I'm steaming through the first part of File 3 for instance (still want 100% Red Matter), which took me nearly an hour originally.

I would even be okay with the non combat stuff if it wasn't presented the same in almost every file.

I didn't like that you were pretty much forced to do all of the side quests before you proceeded with the main mission and then if you don't want to do a side quest, the only way to do it is replay the entire file.

I would've liked maybe once or twice where you land are immediately thrown into the action in the real world and then the astral plane and then maybe you return to the real world and have some investigations and then boom, another fight in the real world or astral plane.
