Finally somebody who shares the same feeling as me.
My 1st SRW was Super Robot Wars Alpha for de Dreamcast (remade of the ps1)
the CG's in game created such a hype for me when I got someone new, or upgrades.
e.g. Getter robot had like 3 CG's, Mazinger also at least 3 ( docking of Pilder, when you receive Scrander, when Great Mazinger saves you, when you get Mazinkaiser etc. Voltus V had one, Combattler V, Dancouga, Raideen, Evangelion, Giant Robo, Gunbuster

So why do the SRW games barely have CG's nowadays? Are companies saving on cost's on everything? Alpha 2 had like only 3 cg's (including the intro) same for Alpha 3.

i personally think getting actual gifs from the animation brings more joy than using their own CG

like here, with j ark... it even has that same VHS look, it's awesome!

wish there was more of it

but yeah... i always got hyped with those too in those old games nonetheless

i do miss the cg openings. really liked the mx one.
