Do you think the Ultimate Challenge is doable without preorder DLC?

if you mean the starting stages without gespenst then yes, those stages are just yolo anyways you will save / load a lot.. the only real problem is IF route final stage part 2.. I'm not sure if it is doable or not yet but it gonna need some high levels and good set up.

I'm gonna pick these grades

Grade 2 SP Boost
Grade 3 Damage Support ( cuz I need to spam Shin Getter for final stage, Van could end up saving some SP too )
Grade 5 I might go with In-Fight
Grade 6 is surely ExC +1.. that is the only useful one for that fight.

Oh definitely. Gespenst is just essentially a bonus really and it's honestly better off not in your hands when you start the game. Even more if you're using Sagiri as MC as Saizo and Gespenst end up declining horribly by mid to end game.

im on this stage 46

i dunno how you can destroy everything here with just beecha in 7 turns
but maybe i guess it will be doable since they expanded upgrade bars to 20

I just loaded up my final save from when I did my first no upgrade run and just used all of that. Set it to Super Expert for kicks and giggles and Beecha still one shots everything. Granted because you didn't limit me on anything, I just gave him all the skill parts that I've accumulated on that playthrough. SRW games are charitable on one-man army units especially on V, X, and T. Faster to get certain characters to ace status, funneled all to one character for one stage then switch it up to a different character, Prana Converter, and even more shenanigans.

Final Boss Normal Route (cause you're required to get Grade 6 TacP for IF route and this save didn't have that).

Ah, so it's not just me. I mean, he seemed pretty strong when he joined with the Gespenst but quickly felt underwhelming, especially with the various upgrades that the Tyranado (and various other units) get during the second half of the game.
I was sort of hoping he'd get a kickass upgrade at some point too...

Honestly, the biggest debate about them is the fact that they ended up being bad guys and the how. Presbund somewhat made some sense but Dyma's felt like it was out of nowhere.

That upgrade was just essentially the Slash Ripper post movement attack which doesn't even have an Ignore Size Modifier. It's better off with Sagiri honestly because at least she can still survive on the front lines thanks to her Wall spirit command because this game is just not kind to evasion units unless you've upgraded them. As @superobo4ever said, the first few stages are pure yolo since most of your early game characters don't even have things like Bullseye, Attune, or even Focus. They mostly start off with Persist which is a big "why?"

So as a joke, I made Fa level 100+, Sagiri at 80+, Allenby at 70+ and Pricilla at 70+. I have a save file where I didn't do that but yeah (the file I have before doing that should be just finishing stage 9). 477 Turns of it not coming back. It's obviously not valid (because of the really high turns) but yeah. Also on stage 12 where Bright is also at level 70+.

On a more serious note, I don't think it's possible for Spike to get the TacP requirement for stage 9 on SE. You need two hits for each enemy even with Smash Hit on.

Meanwhile, Kincade and Tobia are the kings of getting shot down horribly.
