I have broken a shovel while hitting a rock when money comes out. It broke after about 4 hits. So either the game treats "items" and "money" differently for the "will not break" condition, or that "will not break" condition is incorrect altogether. Not sure if it matters, but this was a "Shovel", not a "Flimsy Shovel".

Okay but do nets/shovels lose durability when popping balloons?

I can probably second this (but I think I have test again to be sure). I was under the impression that the shovel is prevented from breaking as long as you mash A against a rock without interruption. Then, when you stop hitting the rock, the shovel breaks if at 0 HP, even if the last hit made an item jump out of said rock. Heck, I even think you can keep hitting the very same rock hundreds of times and the shovel won't break unless you stop mashing A (and, obviously, you most hit the rock fast enough at all times).

...So, uh, I tested it all, and I was incorrect. Everything TC said about a shovel breaking was correct on the other hand. I'll just delete my post above and leave quietly... :-s

cool, so even when golden tools are unlocked they're absolutely useless

like if it was 1000 uses sure, but being the same as two iron tools is an insult

Yeah I mean I'm fine with them breaking but only double seems like a scam, especially since they lose all their unique properties (triple slingshot, bell trees, easier catches, etc)

Sad to hear golden tools can't be customized. Also, I wonder what the purpose of making axes non-customizable was.

Thanks for all your hard work! Extremely useful to know.

I won't bother with any of the golden tools aside from the golden watering can, and even then, I'll only use it for golden roses. Sucks that they have no unique properties and only a measly increase in durability.
