I’m really enjoying it, but it does have its flaws. For every amazing QoL change this game brings to the table, there’s another one or two absolutely baffling design choices.

So far, I’d say New Leaf had a better start, but New Horizons has a lot of potential through future updates.

I really should love the game. But I don't. Yet. I'm not a long term fan. Just someone who normally loves the genre and while I tried New Leaf, I didn't love it (the main reason I'm trying again is because the series is well loved and more importantly, my daughter loves it). I'm hoping by playing day one with the community active, I'll discover the things that make this so popular. And the tool breaking thing (while I get that inspires crafting, which is new) gets to me. But that's a different story all together.

So far, I'm still playing. I'm not hooked, and sometimes it feels like I'm forcing myself more than I should because the slow start really gets to me. But I'm hopeful. If I can power through the boring, I know I will probably love the customizing I can do. I just hope I can and don't lose interest. Which is likely. There's so many great games either out now or coming this Spring! Makes it hard for me to want to play for a bit and do "dailies". That's not a dig on this game, but rather a good thing that there's other games I am equally excited to play!

The greatest fun I had in the game so far was playing with my daughter (or her laughter about my really bad AC luck; there were bees involved. And Mom jeans). Not that the MP is much to talk about. It's rather lacking. But we had a funny happen, so if nothing else, this game has provided a few fun moments between mom and child. I hope for more! If nothing else, I will power through for as long as it holds her interest. No promises once she drops though!

Not meeting my expectations so far, mainly because I have some gripes with the map size since I feel we'll have even less space now, but lemme get terraforming and we'll see.

I'm a sucker for resource collecting, and with the new crafting system I have a reason to collect stuff, especially because we need to craft stuff for new residents to move in, so I'm loving the game.

However, my biggest complaint for the series in general is the lack of a true objective. After a few days, after building the important buildings, the games always fall into the "now you make your own objectives" kind of BS and I lose interest.

I'm guessing my interest in this game will continue until I build the important stuff and fill my island with the max number of residents. If after that the game turns into "now you just keep customizing your island until you're satisfied" without a true objective, I'll move on to another game.

This right here for me. It's a solid 8/10 experience as it is right now, but it definitely feels like they intend to ease features in over time, especially holidays.

The ability for tools to break is fine at the start, but once you get to late-game, there needs to be a way to acquire permanent tools. My fishing rod breaking every 20 casts is not immersive. The crafting system otherwise is actually a lot of fun, but it definitely needs tweaking, like mass crafting simple items or accessing the storage.

The lack of hourly tunes until over a week in is genuinely making the main music grating.

I'm whelmed, I guess. Lots of good things. Lots of excruciating, awful things. Great foundation to build off of, but for now it's empty as s***.

It's better than Pocket Camp and City Folk I guess, at least.
If you disagree with the above post, it isn't for you.
Luckily it's free so you can't complain about it either.

It's still decent, but for me it's honestly the worst AC game so far.
How would you know if you cancelled your preorder?

So far I'm enjoying it a lot more than New Leaf (my only AC experience). I really enjoy the crafting in this game and I don't even mind the tool breaking. Though there really needs to be an option to craft multiple items at once. Spamming the A-button to craft fish fodder is tedious.
Time will tell if it can hook me enough to make me come back to hit the same rocks and chop the same trees in a couple of weeks though.

Anyone who says NL had a better start forgot about having to get a 100 approval rating. God that was tedious.

As for NH, it’s actually surpassed my expectations and I’m having a total blast. Having a group of friends who are all playing at the same time really adds to the experience too.
