Why does this game gets called ‘souls-like’?

Because it borrows a few mechanics and concepts from the Souls games.

Oh, ok. I’ve completed remnant but have never played any dark souls games. I see the tag ‘souls-like’ a lot amd was curious what that genuinely means.

- respawn at 'bonfires'
- co'op vs PvE, PvE scales (more so in this, in fact)
- ganks
- general level of challenge
- enviromental story telling and lore

My apologies, I thought you were responding to my question in post #3 which was tied to post #2 saying remnant borrowed stuff from dark souls.

My friend got so triggered when I said this game was a soulslike. "Blah blah blah everyone calls everything a soulslike these days". Game literally has bonfire/crystal checkpoints to respawn/fast travel/respawn enemies at lol. Not to mention the armor weight system, general vibe/aura/feeling of the settings, and even some bosses are highly similar. He likes to hate on everything tho lol
