Is there a trick to getting that objective? The immortal moves at a snail's pace, so it's seemingly impossible to clear it within 240 seconds.

Best I've gotten is around 7:30. The only real trick I've found is abusing the Y button (or whatever you have mapped for support) which does a massive AoE that even hits enemies in the air if they're not too high up.

Alright, I've finally beaten it at 3:49, so I'm going to go over my findings so far and best strategy.

First, the options:

Left attack button makes you run forward slightly and kick. Avoid this button at all costs, it's dreadful.

Right attack button swings your sword in front of you. This only hits enemies in a small area directly in front and to your sides, so avoid this too.

Shoulder weapon fires a barrage of missiles that home in on the enemies. They have to be pretty far away from you, though, otherwise the missiles miss entirely. It may be possible to hit someone by turning around entirely and firing, making the missiles go all the way around you, but I haven't tested this successfully. proper spacing seems to be facing the enemy while they're just inside the edge of the minimap. You ONLY want to use this to clean up the purples at the end, or if Johnny has stolen enough mobs that you can't spawn another wave.

The support weapon button will sink your sword into the ground and cause an incredibly destructive AoE. THIS is the ONLY way you will be able to get close to sub 4 minutes. The AoE will hit in front of you, behind you, and even roughly head-level in the air. You should only ever use this, unless you need to use the missiles.

And finally, there's the dash. This get you to the next wave spawn before the glaciers melt. If you're being hounded by purples at the end and can't escape them, you'll have to dash away, turn around (slowly,) and then walk back until they're in missile range.

So here's how the mission will probably play out, optimally:

1. Immediately, as you enter the mission, dash forward, then mash the support AoE, then mash dash again to get the the last three stragglers (missiles won't get them don't bother,) then AoE again. Immediately turn around and dash to the other half of the map. Try to hang left for future spawns.

2. Once you reach the other side, there will be some small floaty bots that will engage you. From this point it is extremely important to keep yourself between the bots and Johnny, otherwise they'll engage him and potentially float away. Destroy them and try to align yourself with the next wave in front of you.

3. You're going to be hit by several waves here. Don't bother waiting for the helicopters, just hit them when the next wave comes. You might even be able to leave the final ones behind to get later, but I haven't tested this. While you're waiting between waves here, start turning around, so that you can immediately dash away once the far wave spawns.

4. Identical to the last phase. AoE, turn around, dash when you need to.

5. At this point, floaty bots with purple eyes will spawn. They usually float too high to hit with the AoE, so your only option is to get away and hit them with the missiles, but ignore them for now. Just focus on the other mobs for now. Keep turning around between AoEs and dash away as usual.

6. This is the last spawn, so just do what you've been doing. AoE, turn (if you left some purples behind, etc.)

7. This is the cleanup step where you have to finish any purples left alive. Barrage works, but only if there aren't too many directly behind you, otherwise you'll lose most of your missiles to trying to hit the other target.

Notable problems:

1. Purples. The only ways I know how to deal with these is to either use the barrage, as mentioned above, or another strategy that rarely works. If you take a step forward, in the opposite direction from them, they'll sometimes drop just low enough to be destroyed by the AoE when they try to keep up with you. Only worth trying between waves, otherwise just dash away and use a barrage.

2. Johnny. I've lost multiple runs to this idiot getting aggro on a bunch of mobs and then flying into the sky so I can't get them. If another wave spawned, ignore him and he'll usually handle it. If not, you've probably lost the run.

And if anyone is keeping track, the side mission gives you the "Super" decal.

Many thanks. I had a feeling that a tactic like that would be needed for the side goal but wasn't sure how to pull it off.

Just did this atrociously boring s***quest. Took me 15:47 to beat. What in f**ksville where they smoking when the put up a 4 minute sidequest limit. It's absolutely impossible in that uncontrollable junkheap.

Worst quest so far by a galaxy length.

EDIT: read the post above and didn't know of aoe attack, but still what a horrible quest.

Yeah, controlling Rebellion was fun and all but they really should have adjusted the time for the side goal. Or at least let us use those chest guns, that would've been great for picking off those horrid purple bots.

Thanks a lot to Bobsplosion for the guide! It still seems like this is mostly up to luck though, between the enemies and Johnny's behavior. Using his advice of only using the downstab AOE attack and dashes (and missiles only to clean up the purple flying enemies if necessary) I've gotten less than 5 minutes, but not less than 4 for the side mission.

This is a real shame because piloting an Immortal is a neat concept! Definitely the biggest gap between potential and actual implementation I've seen in Daemon X Machina so far. Perhaps it could be updated in a patch?

so this one I got, its the next one that's impossible, complete the outer ability test (rank c) in 120 seconds.

it's not going out of the arsenal like I thought, you absolutely need your arsenal, and the best I got is 2:17.

anyone else have problems with this or has anyone completed it?

Sorry man, literally got this one first try so I didn't think it would be particularly difficult.
If you're using your femto modes properly (default up and down on the d-pad) it should be a breeze. I tried again for posterity and finished with 1:27.
