I'm only in the Shaikos Ruins, so if it's an option that shows up later, or if it doesn't show up at all, I'll feel less dumb.

To add, you can get up to three stars, then a "MASTERED" level. I believe, if Mastered, the recipe has a ~0.1% chance of failing (I think it did happen to me once). And, to learn new recipes from old ones, it doesn't happen until at least one star (and usually at two or three, since it's random with increasing chances the more stars you have).

That's a less than stellar way to signify it, but c'est la vie. Surely there's a list of recipes online somewhere, for unlocking purposes.
