Wow, it's almost like dead franchises don't deserve playable representation when there are still plenty of iconic unrepresented franchises that had a new game in the past decade and most of his support was from an overly vocal minority, much like that of Isaac and Geno.

Really makes you think.
"vocal minority"

considering that we know that Ridley, K. Rool and Banjo got in via the Ballot, it's pretty obvious it's not a vocal minority atb this point and Isaac and Geno likely aren't either.

i would take 100 BK clones before joker. please no more weeb trash characters.
What did you expect? This is a Japanese-made game that's mostly catering to their Asian demographic.

Since Smash is made to cater to Asians, Sakurai should add Phil from The Nutshack

To be fair, Banjo is very boring. He didn't bring anything enticing to the table; not to mention how some folks tend to overrate his popularity.

B&K in its entirety has only sold 5 million units world-wide; opposed to series like Persona which totaled 8 million, and Dragon Quests' 76 million.

Yeah compare a series with three games to ones with five and f***ing ELEVEN games respectively. Even still, Banjo got more hype at E3 than Hero so really does it matter who sells the most?

All things considered, Banjo only had one "good" game, while the sequel and spin-offs didn't do nearly as well.
Also, this is an argument of quality over quantity, not vice versa.

Banjo only received so much hype because he's a character that many people have wanted for years. His actual moveset is lackluster compared to the other fighters in the pass so far.

Tooie, despite its faults, is NOT a bad game. Hell, it fleshed out the BK universe way more than the first game!
I am pretty sure I know what to do now.

Dragon Quest III outsold every game in the Banjo-Kazooie series by itself.

I absolutely understand what you mean, but that's a subject point of view. The statistics show otherwise, as the game didn't even crack 1.5 million sales.

Tooie was just divisive because of the bigger levels thing, people outright hated Nuts & Bolts. You can’t really claim that Tooie was bad cause it did what all sequels did, which was doing the same thing but adding more.

Also who cares about the “moveset”? It’s cause he has no forced gimmick, it’s still faithful to his original moves and he still comes with a great stage and amazing selection of music. Plus you play the character cause you actually like that character not because they’re gimmicky monstrosities.

Tooie is divisive because of backtracking and repetitive collecting. The increased scale of the game was praised when it came out.
