I was having a blast with this game... until i tried online. It's so laggy and unresponsive that is unplayable. I play other games online (splatoon 2, overwatch) and all of them run perfectly. What's going on with this game!?

90% of people play on wifi

fighting games require peak netcode
That's like filling your house with bears and then since the bears are a problem, filling it with tigers to fight them. -Faust_8

Yeah, the online is plagued with people with potato internet. My best advice is block all of the potatoes you find. I've been getting better matches after I started doing that.

Thanks for the input fellows. So, basically, Nintendo can't do anything about it?

I think Nintendo technically could. The netcode for this game isn't the best. But I doubt Nintendo will change it.

Also get a wired connection if you don't have one. It helps a lot.

Would having a direct connection help you at all if your opponent's on wifi?

While we're on the topic, can anyone confirm if this actually makes any difference to deal with lag in this game?
