Is it possible to beat this game only using Laharl, Etna, and Flonne from start to finish?

Considering Flonne doesn't join till Episode 3...well, you make the call.

To give you a non pedantic answer. Yes, quite easily. Hey you could even solo pretty much to early postgame just using Laharl. To give you a tip, get flonne to create 3 mages. Get each to level 10 to learn mega fire/ice/wind, then have flonne learn them via the pupil system and you've got a killing machine pretty much.

Flonne with offensive magic is deadly. Even the lowest tier of magic will get it done easily enough in the main story line, eliminating the need to level up the generic mages. But that may not comply with TC's self imposed rules.

Assuming strictly Laharl, Etna and then Flonne when she joins, the main story line can be cleared by over leveling as needed. The lack of offensive magic will be painful, but not a show stopper.

The amount of over leveling needed will be fairly extreme to deal with some of the chapter boss maps, particularly the one with an entire enemy army having beneficial geo effects with the geo symbols difficult to get to.
