  3. Does Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind hold record for longest pre-credits?

Sorry for the bad English in the topic title, but that was the only way I could have fit my idea into 80 characters.

Anyway, the movie has a very long intro with approximately 18 minutes between the very beginning and the start of the opening credits if IMDb's trivia section is to be believed. That's so long that by that point, I would have either forgotten about the opening credits or assumed they wouldn't be appearing in the film at all.

But they do show up after 18 minutes, and I was wondering whether this makes the movie hold the record for the longest pre-credits sequence. If so, I also wonder whether they tried to attain the record.

Some movies don't have opening credits at all, which might complicate the notion of such a record in the first place.

Well, I was talking about the period of time before the opening credits, which implies that the opening credits are there in the first place.

That seems like a tenuous distinction. If you can still call them "opening" credits when they occur 18 minutes into the movie, at what point do they become "closing" credits?

Obviously, 18 minutes into the 108-minute movie is closer to the beginning than to the end. Those credits were also obviously opening credits as opposed to closing credits. They just happened to only show up relatively late into the film.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but that is interesting. As for when the credits close, well obviously when they stop listing names lol. It's not Too Many Cooks where the entire short is the opening credits, and even then, that was 10 minutes. I think it would be hard to go for 18 minutes, and not annoy the viewer, I'm sure they found a way, but it would be challenging to pull off.

18 minutes is pretty long, but it may not be the longest. A lot of Bond movies have long intros before the title screen comes up.

Lovr Exposure's opening credits don't appear until 1 hour into the movie. But then again, its also a 4 hour film.

I need to clarify because I think people might be reading this wrong. TC, you mean the opening credits did not begin until 18 minutes in the movie?
