So we all know by now that James Bond dies in No Time to Die and it got me thinking, is Daniel Craig’s Bond a different version to the others?

And if so, was each new actor a new version or did some carry on as the same Bond?

But if Craig’s Bond is a new Bond why does he have the Aston Martin DB5?

I think up until Casino Royale it was just seen as a continuation of the character. Craig's Bond starts as a reboot and he seems to have been given his own confined series of 5 movies.

The only real way to do the next Bond film is a complete reboot again

oh no not this again.

it's the same character played by different actors. each one has rebooted the character in their own way.

He's the early version of Bond. Kinda like the prequel bond.

Nah, he just regenerates, like Dr. Who.

james bond lives in a quasi-canon universe in of itself

you could probably claim that the original fleming books are the "canon" and everything else is a spin-off, recreation, retelling, remake, or reboot. but the idea is that james bond isn't about linear continuity and canon, it's about bond being the best secret agent of that timeline, whenever it takes place, as he's supposed to be the best of them all; almost mythological.
Disclaimer: There's a good chance the above post could be sarcasm.

Craig Bond is completely new. The others all sort of existed in the same loose continuity as each other.

Craig era is its own self-contained universe. The other movies are all basically just a shifting timeline, like how Spider-Man is still 20-something even though he was created in the 60’s.

the funny thing about Craig though is, they did “prequel” movies first….then did “too old for this job” movies next. His universe basically skipped 20 years of a career.

but yeah, Connery, Moore, Dalton, Lazenby, Brosnan are all the same person/character.

Bonds wife is mentioned a good few times after OHMSS, the stupid code name theory started because people didn’t get a cinderella joke.

Pre Craig = one time line.
Craig = another time line.
