Do you agree that Sean Connery's Bond was a rapist?

No Time To Die Director, Cary Fukunaga referred to Sean Connery's James Bond was basically a RAPIST in an interview he did stating in the 1965 bond film when James met Patricia Fearing, played by Molly Peter who rejects his advances and pushes him away but then forcibly kisses her!!...

Later she begs Bond not to tell her boss about something as she would lose her job and he says "Well, i suppose my silence could have a price"

She backs away and says "You don' tmean..oh no!" and he says "oh, yes" before pushing her into a steam room and took her clothes off

Fukunaga told the Hollywood Reporter "Is it thunderball or Goldfinger where like basically Sean Connery's character rapes a woman. She's like, no no no and he's like, yes yes yes. That wouldn't fly today"

He wanted to empower the female characters in this movie and give them equity and says he would like to see a FEMALE BOND one day although Daniel Craig, in his last outing as Bond in this film asks why there should be a female bond and belives in keeping the character male.

Is he right about Sean Connery's Bond?

I think people used to understand that sex is sometimes a push-pull thing and there can be friction and tension. I mean using modern standards Han Solo cornered princess Leia in a dark closet and forced himself on her when she was explicitly saying “no.” In reality though there was a subtext going on there in which they both had the hots for the other but their egos and differing sensibilities were preventing them from acting on. But now decades of ideological brainwashing has conditioned people into believing that all exchanges must be robotic and sterile and contractually agreed upon. Because everybody sucks now and the world is going to complete s***. Thats whats going on here.

Oh, I see most of you are voting "yes" just to spite the late Sean Connery. Very funny.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I votes yes because I've seen that movie and that's very much what the character does. It was one of the few times where it wasn't to get information on the villain's plan or anything. He just blackmailed her after someone else tried to kill him. if I remember right, she had nothing to do with the assassination attempt.

If we're going to use Harrison Ford examples, I think that has nothing on Blade Runner. >_>

It was an awkward scene, but ultimately she enters the steam room herself with a smile lol. The thing with James Bond, at least Sean's, is that every woman wants to shag him anyway, he even turned a likely lesbian in Goldfinger.
Last finished: Zaxxon (CVIS), Time Pilot (ARC+MSX+2600+Coleco), Space Pilot (C64), Star Castle (ARC), Blast Off (ARC), Bosconian (X68K), Vanguard (Arcade+2600).
