https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rotten-tomatoes-mulls-tightening-user-guidelines-combat-trolls-1194183

A rep for the website now tells The Hollywood Reporter that additional measures are being considered in terms of audience reviews. Namely, a user may be asked to verify that he or she has seen the film in question before being allowed to post a critique. (It is unclear what that prompt would look like in practice.)

How much money did RT get to do these changes?

Oh no! Such an injustice! You have to SEE a movie to review it now! Oh the humanity!

Apparently to review you may only have to buy online from Fandango, in-person tickets may not count.

I mean, that'd suck if you're someone who actually posts reviews on RT, but the problem isn't "having to prove you saw a movie before reviewing it", the problem would be "It's rigged to promote Fandango, and if you want to post a review you have to use that specific site."

Which is an altogether different problem.

Are they gonna give a pop quiz containing a random assortment of questions about the movie?
