Something I've been wondering recently.

Last I knew Aiden Gillain (Littelfinger) was the only one to have said that he's read all of them. Robb and Jon Snow have only read the first two and a bunch of them haven't read any.

It seems Brienne has read them too.

I was watching the extras on Blu Ray when I got it and the girl who plays Arya said her mom read the books first but wouldn't let her read them because of how graphic they are so she'd just tell her what was happening.

IMO any actor who is doing a role based on a book should read the book. I would agree though not to read more than what you're currently doing because then there may be involuntary mannerisms that play into affect. I'd compare it to being omnipotent.

Lena Headly (Cersei) hasn't read the books, she wants to do her version of Cercei or something don't remember exactly, she said something like that.
And I think Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) said she reads them as far as her character has gone (so she's read 2 books now).

I think you better hope, then, that your character doesn't develop late so that you're not screwing up mannerisms or some such.

I think the Cersei in the show is written a little differently, or at least they focus on different sympathetic scenes than the books. Tyrion has more of a nasty streak in some of the books too but they play up his sarcasm and humor more.

Certainly didn't hurt in this case. She hit the damn bulls-eye with Arya.
But I agree with you.

The actor for Tywin does not read the books.
Kit Harrington (Jon) has read them all it seems.
Michelle Fairley (Catelyn), reads up to where she has gotten in her script.

Syrio Forel's actor had an AMA on reddit the other day and said that he hadn't read the books iirc. He said a lot of the actors didn't want to read them so that it wouldn't affect the way they perceive the character.

These are just weird tbh. They're both amazing.
