I had been planning on getting an SSD to put Monster Hunter and other games on. Well the Samsung Evo has dropped to $57.99 on Amazon and $59.99 at a number of other retailers.

I've seen a lot on here talking about using the Samsung T5, which the 500gb version is currently sitting at $90.

Well this internal, with enclosure to put it in, comes out to be around $70 in all. It's a pretty great deal, to be honest.

For a comparison, the T5 lists speeds of 540mbps for read/write, while the Samsung 860 EVO is listed at 550mbps for read and 520mbps for write. So it should be comparable.

Here is the drive:

And here is an enclosure to snap it into:

Given current prices, you could grab a 1tb for ~$90, depending on the price and brand, of course. Still not optimal to go for over that, since 2TB goes for $175-200, but I'd say 500GB-1TB SSDs are at the sweetspot price for upgrades now.

If you don't have many games and are willing to reinstall them, you could forgo the enclosure and just use the SSD as internal storage.
I used to have a good signature, then I got modded for it.
Now I shall try to think of something edgier to put here.

I got the enclosure. I currently have a 4TB drive as external with most of my games on that. The 500gb is just for the heavy load games.

MHW is going on it, definitely. I'm currently in the middle of AC Origins, having just taking out the Hyena last night, so if it arrives fast enough, I may stick that on there too. Definitely AC Odyssey and Witcher 3, plus some others I'm coming up to play.

It's not a huge issue to shift a game off and back to the 4TB when I won't be playing it.

I'll upgrade again to a 1TB or 2TB later on, when the prices are better. This is sufficient now since I don't usually hop between games a lot. Pretty much stick to one and maybe a couple others, so 500gb can handle it.

It's even faster with the SSD. I had a stock Pro for 2 months before I upgraded to a SSD. I wish I did it earlier.
