I beat the velkhAna and I know their gear is great for elemental weapons but I don't know which parts or what other parts o should go with from other monsters. If anyone has any insights please let me know

Namielle has a set bonus to increase elemental damage, and it gives either Free Element 2 or Free Element 3.

Looking at the various sets:

Velkhana Beta Helm for Divine Blessing 2
Velkhana Beta Chest for Quick Sheath 2

Namielle Alpha Waist for Constitution 2 and Stamina Surge 1
Namielle Beta Boots for Stamina Surge 2

If you use a weapon that doesn't rely heavily on stamina, you could swap one of the Nami pieces for the Arms Beta, to get Tool Specialist 2.

But those four pieces would activate both set bonuses, and constant attacking would give you boosted elemental damage from both. However the Nami set bonus works better with fast attack weapons (Bow or DBs).

Namielle's bonus is cool, but I don't recommend it if your weapon doesn't have hidden element or if you aren't using Bows.

Two Piece Velkhana or 4 piece Silver Rathalos is a must, Critical Element is the most important skill to have on elemental builds.

Now that elemental charms can be raised to level 5, I suggest using them on elemental builds. This gives you the most skill points out of your charm slot, and any extra level 1 slots can go towards Critical Eye. Assuming you are using a melee weapon, you may want another 3 piece set bonus like Master's Touch from Teostra, Razor Sharp from Nargacuga (can also be obtained as a charm if you prefer) or Maximum Might Secret from Glavenus. It all depends on your weapon and how you want to handle sharpness/affinity.

Otherwise, keep an eye out for armors that give tons of skill points in stuff like Critical Eye, Weakness Exploit, Critical Boost, elemental damage, and come with tons of deco slots. Kirin and Yian Garuga armor pieces are examples.
Great job, Jeremy.

Blast (other status should go with similar, but aim for the parts without blast attack instead.)
Teo
Artian
Teo
Teo
Artian
All Beta.

Normal element
Velk (A or B, depending if you want to use coalescence + T4 decos)
Kirin (A or B, depending on T4 decos)
Velk B
Nami B
Nami B
You can swap the Kirin and Nami chest/feet for nami chest/garuga feet once in post-game, unless you need the stamina.

End goal ele set.

Silver sol for TCE + something

You MAY end up wanting to make a velk/teo mix for DB though, due to sharpness.

These also aren't 100% optimized yet, rather just a baseline.

For my Elemental Switch Axes, I've been typically running either the standard DPS blademaster set (Teo B / Kirin A / Teo B / Teo B / Garuga B) with the adequate elemental charm OR a modification of that to account for Crit Element (Teo B / Velk B / Teo B / Teo B / Velk B). Master's Touch is really handy for sharpness control. Which set I use depends on whether handicraft is required or not. If Handicraft is needed, it's just way too difficult to fit in all desired skills (WE 3, CB 3, Element Up 6, Critical Eye 7) in the second set, so I settle for the first one. I'd sacrifice two levels of Critical Eye to fit in Handicraft 3, which looks like a good deal (the effective damage is still a bit higher), BUT since I'm using Master's Touch for sharpness control, that means sharpness becomes a headache. Thus, if using Handicraft, I stick to the first set and skip on Elemental Crit entirely. A bunch of elemental SA's don't really benefit from Handicraft though (never get purple), so then I can invest in Elemental Crit.

Disclaimer: I haven't really unlocked Silver Rathalos quests yet (do investigations for him even exist? Already found one in the Guiding Lands via Special Tracks, but I haven't seen any. And I killed him accidentally, so RIP special arena), 4x Silversol might be better than my sets.

I've experimented a bit with 2x Velk 2x Namielle too. I'd recommend Teo B arms in that set of yours or, alternatively, leave the Boots open (use 2x Velk 2x Nami from the other 4 armor pieces) to use Garuga Greaves B which has great skill value. However, these sets once again run into the problem of not being able to fit all desired skills, while also having to rely on Protective Polish for sharpness control, which is a bit more annoying than just using Master's Touch.

4p Nami apparently has a niche on Elemental Phial Charge Blades according to CantaPerMe on Twitter, though. That seems reasonable, as phials can't crit, so after investing into Element 6, the only other way to further increase the elemental value on your weapon is via the Namielle set bonuses.

@Deaga I'm currently using the standard dps set except I'm using the Teo A arms instead of B. Is there a particular deco I should look out for that warrants trading away the extra WE point for a lv4 deco slot?

I'm pretty sure Teo B Vambraces gets 1 Lv4 slot and 1 Lv2 slot while Teo A Vambraces only get a Lv3 slot so, if you have enough Tenderizer decorations, the Beta version is a straight upgrade (just gem in Tenderizer on the extra Lv2 slot if you need to and you're left with the same skills and a Lv4 slot rather than Lv3). Teo A might be better if you lack the Tenderizer decorations though, I can give you that.

Currently looking at it and the two pieces are actually like this:

Teo A = WE2, Heat Guard, lv2 slot
Teo B = WE1, Heat Guard, lv4 + lv3 slot

I dunno, maybe if I can get one of the coveted lv4 decos like tenderizer/vitality, the B piece would definitely be a neat upgrade.

Teo B is an ok general use arms

Kirin B is a ton better if your weapon has thunder element. There are a few other elemental exceptions as well, just keep an eye out.
Great job, Jeremy.
