It’s not a character action game, if anything the combat is more like Dark Souls than the first games you listed

^This. You're not supposed to mash buttons and hope for the best. Every attack needs to be calculated and take into account the monster's moveset.

Bayonetta, astral chain, devil may cry, soulslikes

Stopped reading right there. One of them is not like the other.

TC, this game is not right for you if you expect it to play like other games. MH has a different flow to combat, just as soulsbourne have a different flow from bayonetta/dmc. Controls are responsive, they're just responsive in different way from those games. Unlike those games, you can't cancel an action once you commit to it, so need to be careful about what you do.

To be fair I was also a bit baffled when I first played MHF2 blind and Kut-Ku made me his b****. Then I learned to love the game for what it is and not what I was expecting it to be.

The first time you play, it’s certainly possible to think that but believe me, when you have some time to practice and learn the timing it all works fine.

It's way more tactical that your typical hack and slash/action title.

No, he's just a f***ing noob. This is what ALL new players to this series say when they get frustrated. I said the same thing and ragequit and b****ed about it in Monster Hunter 3U.

Gave the game another chance and learned the controls in 4 and never looked back. One of my favorite franchises of all time.
