Just pondering this. There are plenty of historic weapons designed for fist-to-fist combat. And it seems like they could translate into hunting easily enough.

Hunters are already proven to be strong, based on the Greatswords and Hammers they are capable of lugging around.

So having weapons for your fists seem like a viable option. The ore version could have blade spikes to "punch" with, or blades on the side for slashing attacks. The bone version could work more like a KO weapon.

There are plenty of possibly looks to work with, just from historical items.

A full metal gauntlet for the base ore tree.
Add a large beak-like blade for a Kulu tree.
Sweeping metal blades to the sides of the fist for a Legiana tree.
In the bone tree, put a couple bones to mimic a Diablos tail.
Naturally a spiked metal gauntlet since Nergi always comes off the base ore tree.

Would have been a good opportunity for the Assassin's Creed collaboration with a hidden blade fist weapon, where a blade emerges at your palm.

Not for monster hunter.
I love gauntlet type weapons but i like them in a absurdly-fast-and-heavy-combo-the-s***-outta-you way that isnt really monster hunter.

So blunt DBs?
Sounds reasonable within MH.
But it would have to have a slow, weighty attack that feels like it should knock a monster over.

At least that's my opinion.

idk. A weapon with constant but minor KO application sounds interesting.

I would rather it be a mix of fast and slow attacks. The slow ones can be more powerful with the KO effect, higher damage. And the fast jabs and slices can have less damage per hit.

Since it's a fist weapon, playing it like a Boxer would feel rather appropriate.

So figure the Triangle attacks could be the jabs.

Triangle could be a right punch.
Triangle, Triangle could be a right-left.
T3 would then be right-left-right.

Circle alone would be a slow windup punch.
Circle, Circle would be the slow right-left.

Then you could mix them up a little.

Triangle, Triangle, Circle could be a right, left, then an uppercut.

Ideally there'd be a rapid punch move that drained stamina quickly like the Dual Blades Demon Mode.

Leaping attack could be a two handed overhead blow with both fists.

If they could get this into the game, we'd be just a step away from the Martial Arts hunter, using fists and feet to attack, with metal spiked gauntlets and boots.
