Caught a Timid Heatran and hate catching this thing. Plan on using one in VGC 2018 format. Should I retry for Modest? Plan on using it in a sun and/or tailwind team.

Edit: don't have any synchronizers yet, was just messing with ultra wormholes getting all UBS before elite four and happened upon Heatran.

HP Ice or not? Either works. Calm as well. But you really shouldn't go out without HP Ice even if you don't plan on using it. You'll never know if you don't want to later. Take it from someone that came back to Pokemon in the beginning of the year, kinda rushed Koko and thought Naive with HP Ground was a good idea..... Spare yourself the trouble.

You're in luck, nearly all the Smogon sets have timid as a valid option for its nature :)

Friend Raynor, I can help no longer. Ima head back to the Void Holiday Inn and get a good night's sleep and hook up with you tomorrow for the next mission.

There’s no sets for VGC though. Even the XY dex doesn’t have one for some reason. I checked some of the teams for the master division top 8 in VGC 2015, and it seems like most prefer modest. Though honestly, either could work.

I think you should let the VGC season develop a bit before getting a Heatran.

You don't want to use a timid Heatran when it turns out that bulky modest is what nets KOs and has staying power.

Battle Spot Doubles is basically VGC. Same pool and restrictions except for the Alola-born/caught thing. So I'd say whatever works there has reasonable chance of working under the new VGC. But as said, whether Timid or Modest, get one with HP Ice, just in case. You never know later if you aren't going to regret not doing it unless you are comitted to multiple playthroughs (and even then).
