This game is freaking fun. Controls like Helldivers and Dead Nation if you have played those.

Apparently b****ing going on in main Switch forums about friendly fire not being able to be turned off. I guess I will play it solo for a while....

Friendly fire ruined this game for me. I was going to pick this up for me, my wife and my 6 year old daughter to play together. They like games but don't play them often. Friendly fire will ruin this. Also players and join your game and can grief you and even if you invert the friendly fire, players can still grief you by constantly getting in your line of fire. And I'm not wanting to play this solo as I have no friends who wants to play this. So thanks devs.

An option to turn this off would appease the entire crowd. I don't see how this would affect players who want friendly fire on because they can just keep it on and people who don't want it can turn it off. Everyone wins. But the community for this game is toxic and turning it off is not "hard core" to them so it must be kept on because the game is designed around it.

Just because a game is designed around a mechanic doesn't mean the mechanic is good. Looks at Star Wars Battlefront II. That game was designed around loot boxes and you see how that turned out. I know that is an extreme example but just because a developer makes a decision doesn't mean it's always the best one or right one. Having to watch where I shoot in a game that's filled with enemies may be fun for others but not for me, especially when I'm playing with a young child and someone else who doesn't play often. This only builds frustration for us.

With that being said, I'm sure the developer won't miss my $20 and there are other games I can play with my family so nothing of value was lost.

That is a bit of a stretch. Game is two days old and the community is toxic? I think you can do local co-op.

I'm talking about the PC version. And yes you can do local co op but friendly fire is just not my thing. I wanted to play this on the Xbox One with my wife and 6 year old daughter and they don't play a bunch of games so this would become annoying for all of us. And I don't have friends who are going to play this game and seeing what randoms do online in the PC version, I feel it would be similar on the Xbox One. I'm not bashing the game, it actually looks like it could be a lot of fun but that one mechanic is a turn off for me.

Also the developer is considering having an option to disable friendly fire.

me and my wife were literally just talking about this game and she said no don't buy it because our daughter, the way she is would make this game frustrating for all 3 of us.

I think there is an option to turn off friendly fire somewhere in the option. Even in online lounge, there is a label on the right side that said Friendly fire: On/Custom/Off.

You can make it so friendly fire just hurts the source-caster of the spell.

This is not true either.

You can only control what your own attacks do, not the attacks of other players.

You can set it so other players take the full damage from your attacks, which is the default setting.

You can set it so that you take half the friendly fire damage, while the player you are shooting will still take the other half.

Or you can set it so that any damage you do to other players is redirected to yourself.

There is no turning the damage "off".

And of course there is no way to control how other online players choose to direct their damage.

But, I hear the online is barely working anyway. Everyone thinks it is glitched, but honestly there are very few people playing this game. It's very unpopular.
