Uh, except people do care? Especially friends. Cheap tactics will get you thrown out of the apartment in some cases. Maybe some people don't have any friends to play against so they don't know any better.

It's acceptable, however, at the arcade and someone challenges you because they're trying to take the arcade machine.

Maybe some people have friends that are also adept at fighting games and understand that exploiting the most powerful tactics is the smartest thing to do when you're trying to win.

And with my friends that don't play fighters seriously, I'll end up picking characters I don't have a clue how to use or play fighters that I don't have a clue how to play - e.g. MK9 / Injustice, both of which I have but I don't play unless someone requests it - or if we're playing Tekken, I'll typically pick a capo, Alisa, or Boskonovich, Guilty Gear and I go to Chipp or Millia...

OR HEY, sometimes I'll say, "Dude, when you see me do XYZ, do ABC, and you'll counter it EVERY time" because I'd rather teach my friends and not be childish about it.

Also... If I was the type to invite my friends over so I can maul them in a game they don't play, I'd be quite the ass. I don't do that. Ever.
