I just got back into comics after a few years of being out of the loop. When I left off DC was killing it with Rebirth and Marvel was floundering in SJ.W hell with trash like Ms. Marvel and America flooding the comic shops. So is Marvel any better or did it go full Antifa?

Also what's the deal with MCU Yondu being in 616? Is it like Fury where the comics version just went "And here's my long lost Son, MCU Me! I'm out, bye"?

There are also some really awesome events happening at Marvel right now:

1) Cosmic Ghost Rider DESTROYS Marvel History:

https://i.imgtc.ws/68sXhwd.jpg

2) Meanwhile, over in the current Avengers story arc, ALL the Ghost Riders are involved in some crazy s***, and all of it is moving towards "Beware the Ghost Rider" where Johnny Blaze and Dan Ketch are going to fight with each other while Mephisto is in the background laughing like a mad man.

https://i.imgtc.ws/dK7rfjU.jpg

3) Remember writer Jonathan Hickman who did Secret Wars 2015? Well, he's back... and he's revamping the X-men with House of X and Powers of X:

https://i.imgtc.ws/vxka4wo.jpg

4) Finally, the other event book happening right now is Absolute Carnage. Carnage is practically a GOD now (he got a HUGE power upgrade) and he is going after everyone who was a host for a symbiote at one point in their life (which is a s*** load of characters in the Marvel universe)

As a whole, I wouldn't call Marvel "great" but its definitely improved from it's low point. Alonso has done a decent bit of house cleaning, but I just don't think that Marvel has the same kind of talent that it did even 10 years ago right now.

Also fyi DC's kind of gone to s*** outside of a few books too since you've been gone.

Marvel comics are still terrible but there are some good comics like Superior Spider-Man and House of X. Don't take my word for it though as I actually liked the Ms. Marvel comic so what do I know? I agree that America was trash though.

All the comics that Oliver_Oliver posted look terrible (I know for true that the Carnage one sucks).
If you dig stuff like Spawn comics you might enjoy that kinda stuff, but I think the TC wants to know if Marvel has rebounded from it's "All-new! All-inclusive! All-disappointing!" phase.
Showing him "Death's Head" (which looks 90's AF, and not in a good way) is not gonna help, I don't think.

Based on your response you sound like one of those comicsgaters which means your knowledge of comics and their history is surface level at best, but in case Im wrong, there sre several comics running right now that are rrslly good.

The problem was never the characters(Ms Marvel isnt going anywhere any time soon) but we have some solid writers running stuff. Pretty nuch anything donny coates is putting out is great, venom has been absolutely amazing like even the tie ins are good. Immortal hulk i havent read but it has become a juggernaut of sales and acclaim so it cant be that bad. House of x and powers of x are pretty much unanimously agreed to be the best x men stuff in probably 2 decades. The star wars books have all been good to great, people seem to like the avengers run and spidey is awesome thus far.

So no, they arent bad at all.

There was a definite era of them promoting progressive social politics above all else, while shoving off X-Men and Fantastic Four to the side to promote the MCU. However, that era has passed and they've started putting out good comics again. Thor is Odinson like it should be, the FF are back, the X-Men are core again, the Inhumans are now on the peripheral, and those "woke" titles like America are long-gone. Even the premier SJW comic, Champions, got cancelled on issue #20. Let's hope it stays dead.

Here are some new comics that will definitely help get you back into Marvel:

https://i.imgtc.ws/Ht59zvb.jpg

The Amazing Spider-Man

Nick Spencer has brought back much of the fun that is Spider-Man after Dan Slott wore everyone out from it.

https://i.imgtc.ws/xvhAbM9.jpg

Immortal Hulk

Al Ewing makes an excellent throwback to Atomic Age horror and the best Hulk has been in a very long time.

https://i.imgtc.ws/x7WzPMR.jpg

Fantastic Four

Despite being written by Slott, it's a very enjoyable comic. What's important is that it's Fantastic Four, and Marvel has been treating them like they should: as the greatest team of the MU.

https://i.imgtc.ws/thximV1.jpg

Venom

Venom is a great comic courtesy of Donny Cates, combining superhero with horror both body and psychological, and featuring a modernized revamp of the gritty '90s style.

https://i.imgtc.ws/Yxz7A7k.jpg

Daredevil

A dark and gritty noir, and it's a very good take on the character, easily the best we've had this decade. The art is awesome too.

https://i.imgtc.ws/rgqkRd6.jpg

Miles Morales: Spider-Man

Saladin Ahmed manages to take a floundering character who was primarily pushed for diversity reasons, and makes him interesting. Miles is actually relatable here, the action scenes are great, he doesn't intrude on Peter in any way, and best of all: the Venom Blast doesn't instantly win every fight.

https://i.imgtc.ws/OScKXCK.jpg

X-Men

This is, without a doubt, the best X-Men has been in well over a decade. Jonathan Hickman has made X-Men as a brand fun to read again, and I'm really looking forward to the Dawn of X relaunch.
