Ok, these new defense tiles are great. Sorry I didn't nab screenshots, I killed him with the final blow.

Nowi vs Rein(def)
45 atk vs 29 res
Normal damage should be 16 (45-29, duh)
On the defense tile, he only takes 8

So what is that, 50% damage reduction, or 30% increased atk mitigation?

Nowi's Moonbow charged, and this is the interesting part:
He took 16 damage this time.

So what I assume is happening is Rein got 29*(1+0.3-0.3) which works out to his default stats, no multiplication or truncation complication.

Because if he got 29*1.3=[37] Res, which checks out for the 8 damage taken, but then Moonbow reduced that to 37*0.7=[26] Res, he should have taken 19 damage.

Went back in to take some screenshots:

So here we have Nowi's 45 atk, which is 27 after WTD, against Hector's 14 res, which is 18 on a defensive tile, taking 9 damage, yet 13 with Moonbow.
27-18=9 and 27-14=13

On the counter attack, we have Hector's 55 atk, which is 77 after WTA, against Nowi's 26 def, which is 33 on a defensive tile, taking 44 damage.
77-33=44

So yeah, the tile applies directly to your def/res stat, including buffs/debuffs.

Next example has Hector with both Goad and Ward Armor on, while on a defensive tile. Ike, however, is not.

So Ike's 52 atk (62 w/ WTA) vs Hector's 41 def (53 w/ terrain) results in 9 damage. He'd take 21 on a regular tile!

On the counter, Hector's 59 atk (48 w/ WTD) vs Ike's 32 def results in 16 damage. Had he taken cover, that could be reduced to 7 per hit!

Or rather, Luna/Moonbow "Boosts damage by 50/30% of foe's Def/Res" and the new tiles "Decrease damage by 30% of unit's Def/Res" so that they don't interact at all.

Reinhardt, Azura, Ryoma and Nino. Used Reinhardt to kill the sword unit, danced him and he repositioned Azura out of range. Then I used the enemy huge range at my favor and picked them one by one with counters.

...Err, pardon? Am I missing context here?
