The Seiros/Wilhelm stuff is from a romance novel, not history. No mention of children. Seduction is not mentioned in the academic paper concerning the calendar.

A little disappointed. The idea of Edelgard putting her great great great Granny in timeout is hilarious.

Loog was backed by slithers, yes.

Ho boy. If only Edelgard knew this.

A slither parable/origin story says that Sothis flooded the world in retribution for then spilling blood

So... likely horses***?
Hmm.

Church is suppressing technology, not defending that, but the press was nixed because it was useless to peasants who couldn’t read, not to explicitly keep them illiterate, and a woodblock press existed. The report that is mentioned as burned was about 6-7 years old, mentioning the death of the Duke’s son. It was not destroyed in a fire 21 years ago.

What were the literacy rates? And do peasants even get any form of schooling?

Sounds like something that should be corrected. Luckily Ferdinand von Aegir is on the case!

Lorenz’s father getting the blame for the hit is explicitly mentioned as being too convenient and obvious and thus probably false.

Well, he did blackmail Bathus into doing some digging on Claude...

The tech that is mentioned as suppressed is:
  • Spyglasses (wartime scouting would increase casualties, increased sniper accuracy, ‘don’t lessen the mystery of the goddess’)
  • Flaming tar/oil (flammable can kill you, tactical use by nonmages, concerns for scarcity competition)
  • Printing press (spread of misinformation increased, peasants can’t read, increase church schism)
  • Autopsies (desecration of the dead, white magic can do the same thing, decreased power of white magic / increase of medicine would reduce church authority)

I feel compelled to say that there is no way spyglasses remained unused, if another country is using it in war it’s going to be adopted. Medicine also seems relatively advanced and Manuela knows how to asses Jeralt’s fatal wound.

I dunno what to feel now. Rheas quest to revive Sothis and protect her kind is definitely being painted increasingly ruthless. Her methods are becoming more and more immoral the more we find out about her.
In a sense, Aelfric was also a condensed representation of her fruitless endeavour, of her pursuit of happiness in those long gone from this world. Both of them are obsessed with the past, with undoing what can’t be undone. They ultimately bring about death and misery to the living, but by the same token grant many people refuge and offer their hand to anyone who needs them.

As a total family-man myself, i do still empathize with Rhea (and Aelfric to an extent), but they are definitely trying to rectify their mistake in the base game of making the church too nice to fully understand where El is coming from. I still don‘t agree with Edelgard at all, but she and Rhea do represent two sides of the same coin: An obsession. Be it with the past or the future - the living and the present have to suffer for it.

Wait, if peasants can't read, then what the f*** were Edelgard's fliers for?

They were meant for the nobles. Presumably any nobles who allied with her would then rally their territories.

So Rhea is responsible for keeping things in the Dark Ages? Imagine if a foreign power with advanced technology invaded, Fodlan would be f***ed. Would also explain why Shamir's attire looks a bit anachronistic.
Hurricanes don't rock things. You are factually wrong there, Scorpions.
