Party Chat Guide (from the Japanese strategy guide)

So the Japanese strategy guide has a section devoted to party chats, and it details how to see every single one.

I don't have much time (I'm on my lunch break), but I'll do my best to get this information down as quickly as I can while still having it be useful, as it seems like people really want this info ASAP (and I apologize for taking this long to post it, despite having the guide since Friday).

The guide lists the specific times for each party chat (for example, "after Chapter 2.1 ends and before Chapter 2.2 starts" or "between viewing the event at Victor's Hollow and the start of Chapter 2.5" etc.) but for the sake of time I'm not going to write all those. I'll just write down the characters you’ll need in order for each chapter, and that should be necessary to see them all with no issue. Basically, as soon as you view one character's party chat, make sure the person who is next on the list is in your party ASAP so that you don't miss anything.

Tavern Chats: these work a bit differently. As far as I understand the Japanese, these are unlocked as soon as you beat your first Chapter 4 with any character. They activate by having the necessary party members while being in any tavern, and in the event when more than one are possible with a given party, they will appear in the order listed below, from top to bottom. (The names are my translations of the Japaense and will probably be different in the English version).

“Superstition” - Therion, H’annit, Ophilia
“Cooking Skills” - H’aanit, Ophilia, Cyrus

I haven't had a chance to test it for myself as I've been busy recently and I'm still working my way slowly through the Chapter 1s, but as this is an official guide put out by Squeenix I can't imagine it would be wrong.

From what I understand, as long as you put the required person in your party before flagging the next event you're good. Some of these party chats happen AFTER the boss of a dungeon, and maybe you really don't want that character around for a boss fight. You should be safe as long as you immediately put the character in your party after the boss and before leaving for another town.

I'll verify this myself later.

It seems this is the case. Sorry for not clarifying that in my post.

Hopefully someone else with the strategy guide can make a more detailed guide about this soon, including all the specifics for each party chat (such as when exactly it triggers, it's name, etc.), but I really don't have enough free time right now as I'm moving across the country a week and have my hands full with packing and other things. If there still isn't one in a few weeks, I'll see what I can do. I just wanted to get the basic info out there as soon as I could because I knew a lot of people were asking about it.

I did Hannits Ch2 and that was the correct order. Taking a look at the other Ch2s the order sounds right based on what I got and when in the chapter it triggered.

So unless you made a typo somewhere, these lists are correct.

I did Therion's Chapter 2 using this, and everything checks out on that one.

I had Ophilia in my fighting party, so I can't say for sure if you get a chance to replace party members after the boss.
