Tier List Template: https://tierlists.com/create/top-games-1999

And there we go, we've arrived at the last year. Thanks to everyone who participated and happy holidays!

As before, everyone can rank their faves how they want to based on a selection of the 50 or so top user rated games from that year on various database sites. You can download a pic when finished without logging in and post it here, or post a top 20 list. The plan is to keep going until 1999, about twice a week and finishing at the end of 2019.

I'm going by original release dates and mostly original versions of games unless there's a consensus about a port being better or it's significantly different like Rygar on NES for example - if not you can see the original version as a catch-all for other versions.

Another amazing year! So much good stuff.

Up in the S tier we got
-Crash Team Racing which is still one of the best kart racers ever (and my personal all time fave).
-Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, another immortally fun game. Just always fun, great control and physic feel, awesome levels, and the music is such a great monument to a whole attitude and era.
-POWER STONE! Is it weird for me to say it’s like Smash meets Street Fighter? Either way, it’s amazing.
-and Wild ARMs 2 as an off-the-list addition. Outstanding gameplay (Wild ARMs 1 and 2 mastered JRPG field gameplay when nobody else even tried), tons of sidequests and secrets, a plot with lots of heart, and an awesome world.

My temporary list. I was expecting to have beaten Outcast by now but it's been crashing and stuff

Thanks @uffbulle for organizing this; I enjoyed participating! Any thoughts about continuing on into the next decade of releases at some point in the future?

As for 1999; talk about year of the backlog. I've been sitting on Chrono Cross, Soul Reaver, and Planescape Torment forever, in addition to Alundra 2, Elemental Gimmick Gear and WinBack not included in the default list. Even without those I think '99 has '98 beat in terms of quality.

Good to hear man. I'll consider it, but it'll take a while as my interest in gaming dropped off pretty sharply for years in the '00s, so there's just not a lot that I've played. I like to have a decent grasp of an era before making templates for it.

I'll keep an eye on what's been done previously for the next week or two and add games people want added though.

1999 is possibly the greatest year in video games and Arcades.

Street Fighter III World Impact JP on Dreamcast - It was my first DC game.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves Arcade/MVS
Street Fighter III Third Strike Arcade/CPS3
Crazy Taxi Arcade/Naomi
TH Pro Skater - I waited for the Dreamcast version and it was very worth the wait after the PS1 release

On PC
Unreal Tournament
Quake 3 Arena
System Shock 2

There's much more games. 1999 belongs to Fighters and FPS's as the greatest of all time.

That's weird, how did i manage to put Re-Volt in the wrong year? It's not like i was just 1 year out either!
I gave up trying to find images of title screens as a lot of them were ineligible unless you knew the games; front covers are more commonly known.
The only one that can't really be seen is Wipeout 3 on the C row.
If you ran the world, it would probably be on fire right now.
