Tier List Template: https://tierlists.com/create/top-games-1995

As before, everyone can rank their faves how they want to based on a selection of the 50 or so top user rated games from that year on various database sites. You can download a pic when finished without logging in and post it here, or post a top 20 list. The plan is to keep going until 1999, about twice a week and finishing at the end of 2019.

I'm going by original release dates and mostly original versions of games unless there's a consensus about a port being better or it's significantly different like Rygar on NES for example - if not you can see the original version as a catch-all for other versions.

Dang. I must be missing out on a lot of classics.

DKC2 is my GOTY for 1995 and probably in my top 10 all-time favorite games. Mega Man X3 is S or A depending on my mood. The level design is pretty unremarkable with lots of empty tunnels, but I'm more open to the game lately because of the SNES aesthetic and physics. Alien Soldier was an instant classic to me.

Ristar is almost an S, super well made, but I dunno, it doesn't have the kind of addicting mechanic that makes me want to come back to it like Sonic or Kid Chameleon do. Maybe I just have to play it some more. The rest of my A tier is pretty solid. Great games with a couple of things I would have done differently.

Would add:
Mega Man 7
Real Bout Fatal Fury
Strikers 1945
Tekken 2
Vectorman
And this time!

One Must Fall 2097 is a 1994 game, the Gamefaqs page is (was) wrong.
If you ran the world, it would probably be on fire right now.

It's not that there wasn't good stuff in 95, it just looks bad comparatively hot off the heels of 93-94.

https://gamefaqs1.cbsistatic.com/user_image/2/3/7/AAUpvxAAADO1.jpg

Additional +1s:
Mega Man 7 (SNES)
Gan Gan Ganchan (SFC)
Rendering Ranger: R2 (SFC)
Jumping Flash! (PS)
Bug! (SAT)
Endorfun (PC)
Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds (PC)
Star Wars: Dark Forces (PC)
The Dig (PC)
X-COM: Terror from the Deep (PC)

EDIT: Oh right, Virtual Boy... well, the good news is all the games I'd actually recommend for it happened in this year.
Galactic Pinball (VB)
Red Alarm (VB)
Vertical Force (VB)
Warioland (VB)

And if we're counting Rise of the Triad here instead of 1994, that's a +1 from me as well.

Oh I see. Colonization might also be 1994, there are conflicting sources on it.

Here's mine for 1995 right now:

Crusader might become a B, didn't have time to play it that much and the controls have some issues.

I haven't played quite as many of the hits from 1995 onwards. Just finished Tyrian yesterday.

I actually played the DVD version of Wing Commander IV which is from 1997. But whatever, that game was cool enough that I'll probably end up voting for it twice.
Backlog: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (PC) (Hard mode), Personal Nightmare (Amiga). Last finished: Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC) (Hard mode).

I don't know what the attraction to Speed Haste was for my friend, but he insisted we play it frequently instead of Slipstream 5000. Madness.

If it's hard to see, the one next to The Dig is Fatal Racing (aka Whiplash)

EDIT: Forgot a PS1 game.

Been wondering this from the past couple of these topics too, but what’s the divider?
