I never thought of the old Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer christmas special as having a very strong moral lesson.

What do you think it was?

We should not overlook people just because they're different.

The reindeer community disregards Rudolph based on his appearance. As it turns out, he's actually nice and his difference is pretty useful. The reindeer community learns an important lesson that disregarding people based on appearance is stupid. In fact, differences within a group can strengthen it.

Always seemed pretty straightforward to me.
