I'd argue that some of these character creators go too far with the level of customization they allow for, which might sound strange, but I think for these things it's important to strike a good balance between how unique you can make your person look and the amount of time it takes to get a good result. Black Desert, for example, looks like you can get lost in the CC and spend more time on it than you will for the game's first act.
It can be overwhelming for some people, maybe.
But options are never a bad thing.
There are people who play BDO
for the character creator alone, and spend their time making presets for the public "beauty album".
Those who don't want to spend that time can just download one of said presets and get on with it.
Don't see a reason to limit either one. 🤷🏼‍♀
There are also those who spend hours upon hours composing music for the Shai to play. It adds nothing of ingame value, but it's still a nice feature to have.
