https://gladiator.blog/

I have been very down on Arena as a way to experience Magic, but I recently was introduced to a new community run format called Gladiator. It is as the title says: 100 card singleton with all cards on Arena legal to be played (with the exception of a banned list which currently only has Oko.)

It has absolutely revitalized my interest in playing on Arena, and honestly has saved my interest in Magic as a whole currently. The format is diverse with multiple different archetypes being viable (I've been running 5c Omnisong Enchantress, 4c Lands, BW D&T, Aristocrats, etc) and being singleton is a lot more friendly on your wildcard pool.

Matches are all done via direct challenges organized through the discord, which btw has been very helpful and friendly.

If you like singleton formats or even just something different it is definitely worth checking out - especially if the state of constructed is making you down on the game with the companions and other nonsense.

So...it's literally just...100 card singleton. A format that has existed for decades. With a different banlist.

Quiet, you know we must not speak of the Before-Fore.

There is and only ever has been Arena.

Previously there was no easy way to jam games of this type on Arena, but with an active community dedicated to playing it there exists the possibility to do so.

So is it just a variation of other already existing highlander formats? Sure. Nothing wrong with that.

It's not even a variation, it literally just IS 100 card highlander.

Limited by the arena card pool. So yes, it is a variation.
