Our short NoWaYu side trip finally reaches its dramatic conclusion today.

I haven't actually watched the episode myself yet though. I'm probably going to save it for tomorrow when I know I have Precure and Primagi to act as a palate cleanser and raise my spirits after whatever pain and suffering is in this episode.

You say "short", but it's taken up a third of the season already...

This journal was redacted, right? I wonder, was what we saw the redacted version, and there was much more to the story, or did the viewers get to see the unfiltered story, while the Hero Club was left more in the dark about what went on?

As for timeline placement, the Shinkon wedding was brought up at the end, so we're getting closer to the end of things.
A few of the scenes they showed quickly at the end this week (New years, Fu and Karin blushing on camera, Yuna finding that cat, karaoke) were in the first half of S2 P2 Ep4.

Oh, and something else I noticed while skimming that episode again, it sounds like they DID mention Yuna getting a new body after the big fight, and actually, it looks like that was the case for everyone in the Hero Club (or at least in the case of the others their bodies had some work done to be healed).
To err is human. To blame your computer for your mistakes is even more human.

So, are we going into original territory or is this also part of the KuMeYu story, considering they were shown at the end again?
And Haruka Terui having a chat with herself was kinda dizzying.
Figures Yuna wouldn't give Yuna her curse, otherwise S2P2 wouldn't have happened.

Finally watched the episode myself.

The fight was absolutely badass! I loved Wakaba's Daitengu form, and Yuna's Oni form is cool too. I also marked the f*** out when Yuna dropped Nanoha's old "ZENRYOKU ZENKAI!" catchphrase, even if it was just a coincidence and not a direct shoutout. Unfortunately, Yuna going "full throttle" led to her timer (and her life) running out sooner, leaving Wakaba to fight off the remaining vertex alone. Thankfully she was successful, because if she wasn't, our beloved dorks in the Hero Club wouldn't be around. And on that note...

It was fun hearing Yuna talk to herself for a bit, even if it ended on a sad note. So it seems that our Yuna's divine body is partly a result of the original Yuna from 300 years ago being merged with Shinju-sama and being... reincarnated? Sort of? Maybe that Yuna wanted to keep fighting so badly even beyond her death that she convinced Shinju-sama to let herself be partly reincarnated in the future whenever heroes are needed. There are apparently even more Yunas beyond these two in other side stories that haven't been adapted into an anime.

I think the Hero Club got most of the full story, but anything specifically involving Chikage (her existence, betrayal, and death) was redacted by the Taisha and the Hero Club didn't get to read it.

I think we're going to relive the Shinkon again before any original stuff, but we get to see the previously off-screen role that the KuMeYu girls had in the event before moving on.

I started to rewatch the older seasons, just started with WaSuYu to go in chronological order. Damn, Sumi was stacked for a 6th grader...

Finished watching WaSuYu, now I'm watching season 1 before going back to Hero Chapter. However, I noticed that the Hero Club members use some form of sealing ritual to expose the soul of the Vertexes in order to destroy them because they regenerate otherwise, but Sumi & Co. didn't have to do that, they only attacked until the Vertex started to dissolve in what they translated as the "flower calming ceremony". Is there any explanation for that?
Also, when Sonoko and Sumi used Mankai, the effects were immediate, their Hero forms even accommodated for their losses: Sonoko's eye and Sumi's legs. Here, they didn't lose anything until after the fight.

If you see the screenshots of Yuna's parallel scene out of context, Yuki's scene looks like censored 4kids version of Takashima's lol

Sonoko and Sumi were using the earliest version of the Mankai system, essentially beta-testing it for the Taisha. I'd guess that, as Sonoko continued to fight on alone in between WaSuYu and YuYuYu, the Taisha's dev team must have used her data and improved it with a few updates in the couple of years between then and when the Hero Club took over.

I loved seeing that parallel between the two. It just goes to show how much "better" the heroes of the modern day had it compared to the heroes of old. Even though the Mankai system is still cruel, many would argue that it's still better than physical injuries or just flat-out dying.

From what I understand, Sonoko went to fight the Vertexes in the World of Flames immediately after Sumi lost 2 years of memories due to her second Mankai, and she used Mankai 20 times in a row, leaving her in the state she was found during YuYuYu. Meaning she didn't spend 2 years fighting alone, she spent those 2 years as a living embodiment of the Shinju, that is why she was taken into that palanquin at the end of WaSuYu and was being worshipped by the Taisha.
