Though Kid would probably also need to learn conqueror's coating. Don't forget that BM is not just arguably as powerful as Kaido, but she has taken FAR less damage than him

That's because she wasn't really their focus.

We don't know that it's necessary to use Conqueror's to beat her (although if Zoro can awaken it, why not Kid?). Being virtually invincible is Kaido's thing - Big Mom is just an old fashioned tank as far as I can tell.

Kid already has conqueror's, but not advanced conqueror's. We don't know if that's required to damage her, but don't forget that she pretty much took no damage during WCI (even when she was off guard due to the photo being broken)

I know, that's why he might awaken it, as in the ability to use it offensively like Zoro did when he cut Kaido

Huh? She took damage at WCI, and she has taken damage in this arc as well, she just hasn't taken enough.

I'm pretty comfortable claiming she's not as invulnerable as Kaido.

I pray she goes down. Have her defeated self get carried off by the small crew she brought with her and let Katakuri take over as she's done or something. My body is ready to move on to Shanks and Blackbeard after this arc.

I'm with you. Some here say she has to be a big part of Elbaf, but I can't see her keeping readers engaged with more of the same. We need a BM revelation or something if she comes back for a third consecutive arc.

agreed. I don’t think any villain is compelling enough to be a primary antagonist of three straight arcs, and Big Mom certainly isnt. These arcs are already long af a constant big mom presence would just add to the fatigue

I would be highly disengaged if Big Mom just leaves this arc and then shows back up on the next island. This is the big Yonkou arc before the end run she flat out needs to go down.

I personally think her splitting her soul into Hera will have some severe drawbacks that allow her to be taken down

It could be kinda fun of Big Mom just kept chasing the Strawhats, wrecking things. But Oda would have to make her into more comic relief than she is now, which I don't think will happen.

I think we're gonna get all 3 in Elbaf.

It's also possible Big Mom could be a part of Elbaf but not as a big villain. She's so unpredictable in where Oda will go with her. I still definitely lean toward her going down here because it makes Wano function as the big finale to the first half of the New World, being built up from the very start in Fishman Island. But "going down" doesn't necessarily have to mean exiting the story entirely because her character has more potential than just a straight villain. One thing I think about is how her dream is closely tied to Elbaf, compared to how Kaidou's -presumed- dream of a great death is more tied to the current Wano storyline. Big Mom isn't on Wano to accomplish her dream and I'm not really sure how her dream will be crushed by being defeated here (tying back to that Oda quote about how he writes it so Luffy crushes his evil enemies' dreams/ideologies rather than killing them). Oda could go for some type of softer conclusion to Big Mom's story in Elbaf since she doesn't quite have the kind of personal beef that usually leads villains toward an inevitable crushing defeat in combat, even if she is also functionally defeated or removed from action in Wano, concluding her role as a big villain.

I think I've said it before but it really is one of my favorite parts of the New World that Oda managed to put in such an unpredictable character, given that his villain routines seemed fairly familiar by this point (barring meant-to-lose exceptions like Marineford arc). I still don't have a truly good sense of where BM will go.

Agreed on the predictability. I think that's actually a great point, Big Mom being so all over the place can really throw a spanner in things. I hope it sticks around in some form, or we get someone else equally unpredictable to screw things up.
