luff-buruh (I think)

The "u" after the "b" is optional (more often dropped), as it is in all "borough" place names.

It's the longest place name in Europe, and second in the world.
It's usually shortened to Llanfairpwll or Llanfair PG.

Murricants have a tendency to go for long vowels over short it seems

So we're probably pronouncing something like Scarborough completely to you (long O's, scar-boro)

you also like nasally vowels a lot more

I've heard people pronouncing cat like Kee-yit, with the ee being entirely through the nose

not to mention a whole music genre of what I like to call nasal rock, stuff like Creed where it sounds like their mouth is somewhere up their nostrils

Yeah, you guys pronounce "borough" like "burrow", which is completely wrong.
As a standalone word, it should be pronounced "BUH-ruh" (emphasis in the first syllable), and as an ending to a place name it should be either "buh-ruh" (equal emphasis on both syllables) or just "bruh".
You guys pronounce -shire names wrong, too. When it's part of a place name, it's pronounced "shih" or the same as "sheer", not "shai-uh" as it is as a standalone word.

In the US we pronounce things how we want because of Freedom. All other pronunciations are wrong.
